Two young men riding home in the early hours of the morning were fired upon by police and police volunteers manning a checkpoint in Nongprue in East Pattaya. This is a serious incident and one of the young men is in serious condition in hospital so we will not comment or speculate on what happened just report the facts.
A 15 year old was driving the motorcycle and his 22 year old friend Khun Anan was sitting behind him on the motorcycle. They said that they were going home after playing snooker at a local snooker hall when they came across a police check point.
It is not known if they were requested to stop or not. As they rode past shots were fired from the direction of the police officers. Khun Anan was shot in the back and the 15 year old lost control of the bike and crashed.
The injured Khun Anan was taken to Banglamung Hospital and later transfered to Chonburi Hospital as it seems that a bullet is lodged near his spine and he needs more specialized care at the regional hospital.
Senior Nongprue Police are investigating the incident involving some of their own officers to find out what happened on this night and why the officers used lethal force in the execution of their duties.
