Motorcycle Rider Killed by Drunken Pick Up Driver in Sriracha

Police Leutenant Wisit of the Nong Kham police station was called to the scene of a fatal road accident in Moo 5, Tambon Nong Kham, Sriracha near the Borwin Temple Research Centre. Also at the scene was a damaged and blood stained Isuzu pick-up truck and it's driver Khun Julserm aged 36

Witnesses to the accident said that they had seen the Isuzu pick-up driving up to the motorcycle from the rear and crashing in to the bike. Apparently the driver had tried to flee the scene but was detained by witnesses to wait for the police to arrive as it appears that he was drunk.

The body of Khun Phanapha was transported to hospital by a rescue foundation vehicle for a full forensic autopsy to be carried out.

Danish Man Knifed by Russians in South Pattaya

Pattaya police and rescue services rushed to a location in front of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in South Pattaya after receiving reports of a stabbing incident where a foreigner had been seriously injured.

At the scene they found a Mr. Vasily Klausen aged 25 a Danish national bleeding profusely from stab wounds to his chest and arms. Mr. Vasily who was still semi conscious was given first aid by medics on the spot and then transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

There didn't appear to be any reliable witnesses to the incident and CCTV cameras in the area were not working. From what they know already it appears that the Danish guy was attacked by a couple of knife wielding Russians.

Unfortunately Mr. Vasily's condition worsened as he was transported and remains in an unconscious and serious condition in hospital.

Police will have to wait until such time that regains consciousness and can give more details of the incident and whether he knew his attackers.

Black Magic in Na Jomtien Pattaya

Khun Phawat a special operations officer of the National Command Center for Combating Drugs (NCCD) was conducting a drugs sting operation in the area of Ampharam Temple, Na Jomtien when his attention was diverted when he encountered a fish vendor acting very wierdly.

Khun Phawat is used to dealing with drug addicts but this guy seemed to "not be on this planet" His ID card showed that he was a Khun Tanya Kaew-ngarm, aged 50, from Takhien Tia district in nearby Banglamung

Khun Tanya explained that his mission today was quite simple. He needed to go to the temple to get the Abbot to exorcise evil demons that had taken over his body. Apparantly he had become possessed after being kept awake all night by a Cambodian man in the next room praying loudly all night.

Khun Phawat wasn't buying this and gave the possessed man a drugs test which turned purple. A positive test for Yaa Baa (methamphetamines) Handcuffs were applied and then a miracle occurred the demons fled and the man seemed sober and lucid.

Now the story gets even weirder if that is possible. The now un-possessed Khun Tanya said that no way had he taken Yaa Baa he had quite simple taken some Tiffy tablets. For those new to Thailand Tiffy is a be all end all cure for cold and flu that can be bought from any 7-eleven store. The drugs suppression officer didn't believe this story either but humoured his handcuffed suspect and crushed a Tiffy tablet in to his drug detection kit. Amazingly it turned purple.

Black magic? we will never know. The fish vendor Khun Tanya was released from his handcuffs and sent on his merry merry way.

This programme has been well received and well attended in previous years with participants learning new language skills that have helped them to communicate with the International tourists that flock to this International tourist resort that we call Pattaya.

East Pattaya Volunteer Policeman Shot

Pattaya police rushed to the scene of a shooting incident on Soi Nernplubwam in East Pattaya. At the scene near the Sukhumvit end of the long Soi they found that the victim had already been transported to Banglamung Hospital by friends.

Police sent a team to the hospital and another team secured the scene to interview witnesses and collect evidence.  The victim Khun Sakda aged 18 is a volunteer policeman at Nongprue police station and was off duty at the time of the shooting. He had been shot in the chest and was in a serious condition in hospital.

Witnesses said that Khun Sakda was sat on his motorcycle at the side of the road waiting for some friends to arrive to go to eat at a local restaurant when a group of about 8 Thai youths on 3 or 4 motorcycles pulled up alongside. One of them pulled a gun and fired several shots one of them hitting and severely wounding Khun Sakda before driving off in the direction of North Pattaya.

Police searched the area but could not find any shell casings. There were CCTV cameras and these are being looked at to see if they contain images of the attackers. It is not known at this time what the motive for the shooting is however there is tension between police and local Thai hooligans. Whether this is a personal hit or just an attempt to shoot any police officer is yet to be ascertained.

Thai Gold Sales Slow at Chinese New Year

Thais like gold. Gold jewelry, gold necklaces, gold rings anything with that golden hue will bring a bigger than normal smile to any Thai face especially a Thai Lady's face.

Gold sold in Thailand is a deep yellow gold known as 24 carat or almost pure gold and as such is bought and sold not only for it's beauty ass a jewelry or decorative piece but also as an investment.

Talking to gold shop owners in Chonburi this week they said that trade was very quiet. Normally at holiday times like the Chinese New Year there is an upsurge in trade with folks buying gold jewelry as gifts. However this year there seems to be great uncertainty in the Thai economy with the political unrest in the Nation and people are choosing to keep money in cash in their pockets and bank accounts rather than wearing it around their necks.

Customers who are buying are tending to purchase smaller less expensive items like rings at around 5,000 Baht than the usual 1 Baht gold chains at 19,500 Baht for a one Baht chain.

For those with money gold is cheap well cheaper than a year ago. Time to invest in gold. Up to you but please don't wear it in public especially whilst walking down Pattaya Beach Road in the early hours of the morning.

Plans For Pattaya Chinese New Year Festivities

A press conference was held at Central Festival Pattaya Beach to announce the events that have been scheduled to celebrate Chinese New Year 2557 on the 31st of January.

Chinese New Year is a popular festival in Pattaya as there are a significant number of local Thai citizens who boast Chinese lineage having parents or grand parents from China. Missing this year will be many thousands of Chinese tourists who are staying away in droves due to the political unrest that is causing concerns at the moment.

Khun Wutthisak the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya presided over the press conference and laid out the plans for the assembled media representatives.

The celebrations will showcase Chinese culture with Show Lion Dance and Yingge ensembles entertaining the crowds. There will be activities throughout the day with a parade of dragons at the King Taksin Monument in Naklua and entertainment centred around the Sawang Boriboon Foundation that has it's headquarters in Naklua. There will then be a colourful parade of Lions and Dragons that will dance it's way from Naklua along Beach Road to South Pattaya.

With a little Chinese Girl beauty competition and concerts by well known Thai Bands the day should be a fun day out for all whether Thai, Chinese or Farang.

Pattaya Beach Road Sweep of Drug Dealers and Drug Users

Pattaya Beach Road is looking a lot more beautiful in the daytime. It should do after the millions of Baht that have been spent by Pattaya City Hall. The next task is to make Pattaya Beach Road not only pretty at night but also safer as thousands of tourists wend their way down the beach side walk for a night out on Walking Street.

Regular raids are being carried out to rid this area of Undesirables. This week it was the turn of Police Captain Netthitorn who led a team of Pattaya Police Officers and Pattaya Police Volunteers. Their targets tonight were the drug dealers and their customers who try to push their products on passing foreign tourists and locals.

Their haul was not large. They netted only 2 suspects and confiscated 5 bags of marijuana. They were then hauled off to the police station where they will be drug tested and face charges for drugs possession and possibly possession with intent to sell narcotic substances.

Major Yaa Baa Haul in Chonburi

Chonburi police announced the arrest of a major drug dealer and the confiscation of a massive quantity of drugs before they get onto the streets.

Police Major General Kacha and Police Colonel Surapong of the Chonburi police jointly announced the arrest of a Khun Sitthichai also called Ut aged 24 from Surin Province and the seizure of 80 bags of Yaa Baa (Methamphetamine tablets) The bags contained 160,000 Yaa Baa Tablets.

The raid at the home of Khun Sitthichai in Moo 9 of Baan Muang District in Chonburi had turned up two suitcases that were hidden there and had been delivered by another suspect who was also in custody.

At the moment the two drug dealers are telling different stories as to who actually owns the drugs. It sounds that they will have plenty of time to discuss this matter if and when they are convicted of the charges against them.

3 Seriously Injured in Chonburi By-Pass Truck Car Crash

Chonburi Police Lieutenant Kunthawachai and rescue units were called to attend the scene of a serious road accident that had injured three people on the Chonburi By-Pass near the PTT petrol station at Moo 2 of Nong Daeng District.

At the scene was a wrecked Toyota Corolla vehicle with three seriously injured people trapped inside and 40 meters further down the highway a 22 wheel Nissan articulated lorry that the Toyota had ploughed into

It took rescue workers over an hour using metal cutting equipment to cut free the driver Khun Sompornaged 52 and his two passengers Khun Niwat aged 22 and another lady aged about 40. The three unconscious victims were then rushed to local hospital for emergency treatment.

The driver of the articulated lorry said that he was at the beginning of his long journey transporting steel from Rayong to Phuket when the car travelling at high speed crashed into the rear of his trailer.

It is thought that maybe the driver of the Toyota fell asleep at the wheel but the true facts will not be known until the police are able to interview the occupants of the crashed Toyota.

North Pattaya Looters Steal Buddha Images From Parked Trucks

Pattaya police were called in to investigate a serious crime spree in Naklua. The scene a car park next to a worker camp at Wong Amart construction site, Moo 6 Soi Na Kluea 16/2, North Pattaya

The owners of three pick-up trucks had returned to their vehicles to find that they had been broken into and a variety of stuff taken including batteries, radiator grille mascots and stereo sound systems. However the most serious part of this mini crime spree was that the thieves also removed Buddhist Amulets and statues from the dashboards of the trucks.

Of course the first suspects are the workers of the camp nearby. Police will be looking for the thieves. Whether they are apprehended or not Buddha will not be happy and the bad luck that can befall us in the west for a simple thing like breaking a mirror or walking under a ladder is nothing compared to the bad Kharma these unlucky looters have brought upon themselves.

Pattaya Electric Cable Fire Fuels Fears of Shortage of Maternity Beds

A ten meter stretch of cables burst into flames last week in front of the Easy Buy Shop at the entrance to Soi 63 on Sukhumvit Road. It took over 30 minutes for fire fighters to control the blaze as they do not seem adequately equipped to tackle electrical fires especially when they are located meters off the ground.

It was only a small fire but had huge consequences for residents on the Darkside who were plunged into total darkness losing not only their electricity supply but also telephone lines, Internet connections and worst of all TMN Cable TV service as all these cables were destroyed in the fire.

A plethora of emergency repair vehicles converged on the site. TOT, TT & T, 3BB EPA and TMN cable TV. Enough was enough TMN Cable TV decided it was time to start over and replace an old pole that was badly located blocking the entrance to residences for 20 years and replace with a new one.

No lights, no electric, no Internet, no online games and no Thai soap operas. What a disaster. It has been reported that Banglamung Hospital has now instigated an emergency plan to provide a new maternity ward with extra beds that should be ready in about nine months time.

Drunk Pattaya Biker meets Pole, Pole Wins

A cocktail of alcohol, a motorcycle, a shortage of brain cells and a friend who has consumed too much alcohol has a motorcycle, has even less brain cells oh and I forgot is Thai and you have not an accident waiting to happen but an accident that is almost a dead cert. Sometimes more dead than cert.

Soi Nermplubwan on the Dark Side or East Pattaya as it is marked on some maps for some reason I have yet to fathom is a mating ground for these one cell spreed freaks.

So one mate and another mate I can get there faster than you. Doesn't really matter where there is. So off they go only to come across the ultimate conundrum for a one celled alcohol numbed nerd a bend.

Duh a bend - what to do now? with that one brain cell working overtime it is too late bike meets pole. Pole wins and the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation rushes in to mop up the mess. Stupid place to put a pole his brain cell clicks in, only injured this time. Well always next week if I can get my hands on another bike.

Pattaya Beach Road Undesirable Round-up January

It was Pattaya Police Captain Netithorn's turn to open up the broom cupboard, grab a brush, assemble a team of eager compadres and lead a posse down Beach Road in search of the non too elusive undesirables lurking in the shadows of a coconut tree.

The task is not tiring if a little tiresome. You want lady? You want boy? You want lady who is boy? You want boy who looks like lady? You want Ganja? You want me take care your handbag?

Tonight's score: 6 ladies and men swept up for selling sex, ganja or sex and ganja and 7 lady boys arrested for well just being very ugly.

Down the police station, logged into the computer system, piss tested, given a stern warning on the wrong path they were taking, fined a couple of hundred Baht and released in time for breakfast and the last foreign punter wending a weary way home after a night on the town.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pattaya is a Mecca for Lady Boys. Yes there are some real transvestites. Yes they may or may not have had the chop job. However the vast majority of the fake ladies in Pattaya are just Thai men dressed as women for the sole purpose of robbing tourists. There seems to be a modern thought around the world that transvestites are women trapped in a man's body. The reality is that they are just Thai thieves dressed up to look like a woman.

Pattaya Motorcycle Taxi Driver Commits Suicide By Shooting Himself

Banglamung Police, Medics and a Unit of a Rescue Foundation rushed to the scene of a reported shooting incident in East Pattaya but could do nothing to save a man who had apparently took his own life by shooting himself in the head.

At the scene a rented apartment in Soi Nong Yai in East Pattaya they found the body of Khun Sarawut a 43 year old Motorbike Taxi Driver who works from a taxi a rank in Naklua. He had sustained a catastrophic head wound from a single gunshot to the temple. The 38 calibre handgun was laying by the side of the deceased.

His girlfriend Khun Nawaporn aged 43 witnessed the incident and was clearly in a distressed state. She said that they had just returned home after a night out celebrating the birthday of a friend. They had both consumed a large amount of alcohol. As they entered the room he yelled out - enough is enough went over to a speaker box in the room and with a screwdriver prised open the speaker to remove a loaded hand gun. He then put it to his left temple and pulled the trigger.

She said that she had been with him for only a few months and he was often depressed after the breakup of his marriage a few years ago and the fact that he never got to see his daughter as well as financial problems.

Officials took photographs to record the scene as evidence and then the body of Khun Sarawut was removed from the scene and transported to hospital for a full post mortem to be carried out.

Thai Technical Nonwovens Textile Factory Fire in Chonburi

A large fire in Bangbeung District of Chonburi caused major damage to several factory buildings and the machinery and products inside. The factory belonging to Thai Technical Nonwovens Co., Ltd. produces synthetic textiles for domestic use and for export.

10 fire engines and dozens of fire fighters converged on the scene and they faced a very difficult task. With heavy smoke billowing out of the building and a genuine fear that the main building where the fire started would collapse. It took the fire fighters over 30 minutes to bring the flames under control and then came the arduous job of sifting through the debris and trying to find the cause of the fire.

From these investigations and statements from the workers who were on shift at the time it is thought that a piece of machinery, a material oven dryer had overheated which then burst into flames. The fire being fed with oil and chemical materials nearby.

There were no injuries reported either to the workers at the factory or to the fire fighters who responded. There has been no comment as yet from the management of the factory but it is thought that there are millions of Baht worth of damage and much more in lost production until the factory and machinery can be restored.

Nongprue Drug Dealer Arrested

The declared war on drugs in Pattaya and it's environs carries on with no ceasefire in sight. Miss Sirinapha was escorted to her new temporary residence at Nongprue Police Station pending an appearance before the courts for possession and intent to sale of a large quantity of class 1 banned narcotic substances.

Next Please.

Chonburi Hero Kid gets Scholarship from The Thai Red Cross

Khun Busarawadee President of the Chonburi Branch of the Thailand Red Cross paid a visit to Chonburi Hospital to visit the brave little hero 12 years old Sumet Kulprasan. Sumet took a hit for his sister and probably saved her life when they tried to cross the road after getting off a school bus last week. He used his body to protect his 7 year old sister and sustained a broken right leg after being hit by an Isuzu pick-up truck.

Khun Sumet ids doing well in hospital after doctors performed surgery on his leg and now will be in a cast for some time until it heals. Khun Busarawadee chatted with the boy and his mother Khun Sukanya and presented them with a 5,000 Baht donation and a promise of a sponsored scholarship to take care of his school fees until he graduates.

I hope he got a big kiss from his little sister too

Office Worker Shot to Death Outside Hard Rock Hotel Beach Road Pattaya

At 7.30 am on Monday the 13th of January Pattaya Police Lieutenant Colonel Nathawat was informed of a shooting incident on Beach Road a couple of hundred meters away from Pattaya Police Station. He rushed to the scene outside The Hard Rock Hotel on Beach Road where he found the body of a young lady laying in the gutter.

The deceased Khun Sariyar aged 27 had been shot three times in her head and was declared dead at the scene by a forensic police medic who arrived on scene soon after. It appears that Khun Sariyar who was wearing her work uniform was just setting out for work, she works as an office worker at NPE company in Pattaya.

The police collected three .38 shell casings from the scene and interviewed a speedboat operator nearby who had witnessed the incident. He said that he had heard the victim shout NO and then heard three gunshots. He looked over and saw the gunman jump onto a Honda Click motorcycle and flee the scene. Unfortunately he could not see the killers face as he was wearing a full face helmet.

Later enquiries at the deceased office revealed that Khun Sariyar was a good looking girl who would often chat with friends on Facebook. This infuriated her boyfriend Khun Supachoke who would often quarrel with her about her chats with other men.

Apparantly Khun Supachoke was also a Faceook fan and had posted a picture of himself holding a knife to his girlfriends throat and threatening to kill her. It is to be hoped that the police catch the suspect soon and then maybe we can all look at his sorry face on Facebook as he sits in a Thai Jail cell.

Baby Abandoned in Pratamnack Pattaya

A 42 year old lady motorcycle taxi driver in Pratamnack Pattaya was left literally holding the baby when the Thai woman whom she had befriended left the baby in her care whilst she went to do an errand and failed to return.

The Motorbike Taxi Driver Khun Samai who works from a taxi stand close to The Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pratamnack arrived at Pattaya Police Station with a seven day old baby boy wrapped with a towel, wearing a red cap and baby clothes asking the police for help.

The mother of the child, known only as “Kay” aged about had given birth to the healthy baby just a week ago. The father of the baby was believed to be an Iranian guy. Kay and the Iranian guy had been having problems and she was living alone when she had the child. She was skint and told her taxi driver friend that she was going to the Iranian guys room to retrieve some clothes and try to get some money so she could return up country with her new born baby.

Khun Samai waited for hours but the mother did not return. She went to the woman's rented room at the Veena Guest House near The Pattaya Provincial Court on Tappraya Road but could not find her.

The police tried to place the baby with the Child and Women’s Shelter in Banglamung, unfortunately they were unable to take the child at which point a trusted volunteer lady was brought in to take the baby and care for him for a few days until either they can find an organisation who can take charge of the abandoned baby or maybe the mother will turn up to claim her child.

Pattaya Child Murderer Offers to Surrender

An update to our previous report about the manhunt to apprehend the evil murderer who savagely raped and stabbed to death a 19 year old girl in East Pattaya and stabbed to death a seven year old boy and strangled a two year old boy that she was babysitting.

Pattaya Police are now making their way to Kanchanaburi Province where the murder suspect Prajab also known as OFF has been in contact with the local police in Kanchanaburi to offer to surrender at his local police station. The 18 year old alleged killer is said to be in fear for his own life.

Words fail me but if he is in fear of his life right now just wait until he is returned to Pattaya in handcuffs and he is confronted by the American father and Thai mother of the slain children.

Children Murdered in Pattaya, Babysitter Raped and Stabbed to Death

A horrific murder over the weekend in East Pattaya claimed the lives of three young victims. At 4.30am on Saturday the 11th of January Nongprue Police were called to the murder scene a house in the Paradise Hill 2 Village in Soi Kao Noi.

At the house they were confronted with Khun Wilaiwan aged 33 who had just returned home to find carnage. There was the body of her 2 year old boy Michael who appears to have been strangled with a towel which was still tied around his neck. There was the body of her 7 year old son Joseph who was wearing a Spider Man suit and had been severely beaten in the head and stabbed in the neck. And finally there was the body of her niece who had been babysitting the kids Ms. Wiphawee Khamsai aged 19 who had been stabbed repeatedly and left half naked on the bed after apparently being raped.

Khun Wilaiwan was obviously in a very distressed state but managed to compose herself enough to call her American husband Mr. Jason Lieberman aged 41, who works as an IT Manager in The Philippines and tell him that his two children had been killed. Mr. Lieberman immediately began his journey home to be with his wife.

It appears that Khun Wilaiwan knows the identity of the murderer and indeed saw him outside her house just moments before she entered her home to find the terrible scene inside.

She had left the house and her children in the care of the babysitter the previous evening to take a Khun Chanadar aged 17 to introduce her to a bar in South Pattaya where she secured a job as a gogo dancer and started work straight away. She had done this as a favour to the young lady who lives nearby to her home who had come to her home with her boyfriend Prajab aged 19 asking her to help her find some work for them.

At 4am Khun Wilaiwan had picked up the young lady after she got off work at the gogo bar and returned to her home in Paradise Hill 2 Village. Outside her home the boyfriend Prajab was sat on his motorcycle waiting for her. The girl got on the motorcycle and they rode off immediately at which point Khun Wilaiwan went into the house.

Police at the scene found items from the house outside the porch including a computer and gold jewelry. It appears that the murderer tried to make off with some valuables but left them behind in the rush to get away with his girlfriend.

The police know that Prajab made contact shortly afterwards with a friend by phone from a petrol station in Leam Chabang and presume that either he and his girlfriend who may or may not know that she is with a murderer are heading either for Bangkok or to his home town in Kanchanaburi Province west of Bangkok.

A manhunt is underway for this psycho murderer. Meanwhile Khun Wilaiwan waits for her husband to return and faces the sad task of arranging funerals for her family.

Pattaya City Hall New Year Party

The Mayor of Pattaya Khun Itthipol has been busy over Christmas and New Year with many promotional functions and events, umpteen Christmas Trees to light and of course the Countdown to 2014 that resulted in a very late night for the hard working Mayor.

Back at Pattaya City Hall Khun Pakkorn, senior Administrator with the Pattaya City Administration hosted a party for city officials and employees to welcome in the New Year and to offer a well earned toast to The tired Pattaya Mayor.

So just one more speach from Khun Itthipol to thank his staff and the Pattaya City administrators for their good work over their past year and offered good wishes for them and their families in the New Year.

OK Khun Itthipol you can put your feet up for a few days. How about a few days R&R I know a place you can have a great time - It's called Pattaya.

Pattaya Tourism Conference

A special conference to discuss tourism promotion in Pattaya was convened to discuss proposals to deal with the drop in tourists coming to Pattaya in recent months.

Senior executives from interested parties such as the Pattaya Business and Tourism association, Eastern Seaboard Business Association, Private companies associated with the tourist business in Pattaya and relevant officials from the Pattaya administration discussed thoroughly the issues that have seen project tourist arrivals and tourist revenues drop significantly over this years high season.

Over the last few high seasons tourists from China, Russia and India have been the mainstay for the Pattaya tourism industry. This year numbers have dropped dramatically. The reasons are numerous and cumulative. Bad weather has caused significant floods, There have been a number of highly publicised accidents and incidents that have claimed the lives of many tourists from China, Russia and India. Now there is the looming spectre of political upheaval and the memories of the airport shutdown just a few years back which severely harmed tourism in Thailand.

At the meeting proposals were put forward such as putting on more music concerts, better lighting on beach road and the better utilization of U-Tapao Airport that would give tourists an easier and more reliable access to Pattaya especially if there are problems at the main Bangkok airport.

There was no concrete conclusions or proposals just an understanding that the private sector and public administration would need to work more closely to solve these issues.

Chonburi New Born Baby Dies in Cold Weather

It is winter in the northern hemisphere and although Thailand lies well within the tropics at this time of year a cold wind blowing in from the north east can cause the thermometer to drop sharply especially at night.

Folks in the hills of Northern Thailand are at risk and the cold temperatures can result in death especially for old people who are not prepared for the cold temperatures.

Here in this region of Thailand the cold is not usually more than an inconvenience however in Chonburi this week the cold temperatures claimed the life of a new born baby. The baby was born prematurely on the 21st of December. It is the normal routine to keep premature babies in special care facilities and maybe incubators until they are stronger. On this occasion the parents insisted on taking the baby home four days after it was born on December the 25th.

The parents it seems were not capable of caring for the baby in the cold snap following Christmas and the result was the baby died at only twelve days old.

Staff at Chonburi hospital are now carrying out a full post mortem to see if the cold weather was actually the main cause of death.
