Pattaya Beach Road Sleeping Policemen Take the Hump

The story of sleeping policemen on Beach Road in Pattaya gets more bizarre as City Hall comes out with more excuses as to why what we thought at first were speed bumps to slow down traffic on a road where traffic hardly moves at more than a tropical snails pace has in fact another purpose.

The humps 20cm high and several metres wide have been laid for two purposes. Firstly to slow traffic and secondly to make it easier for disabled people in wheelchairs to cross the road.

Several accidents have already occurred where cyclists and motorcycles have come to grief when they found themselves catapulted from their machines when they came across unexpectedly these unmarked and un-signposted traffic follies.

City Hall has taken the hump and said that they will dig up the humps and replace them with lower and wider humps. I applaud City Hall's efforts to help the disabled especially those in wheelchairs but do not understand how causing accidents and potentially putting more people into wheelchairs is the right way to go.

It is only a few days since Police Region 2 Commander Adul held a New Year parade of police officers outside Pattaya City Hall and gave a stirring speech to encourage his staff to get out there and serve and protect citizens and tourists in the upcoming busy period over New Year.

Pattaya Police officers were called to a bag snatching incident that had just occurred on North Pattaya Road in front of Pattaya City Hall.

Two young Thai lads had ridden up alongside a couple of Russian tourists and tried to snatch the handbag of Miss Tatiana Zotova aged 28 who was walking from her hotel with her boyfriend. instead of the youth snatching the bag the Russians snatched the bag snatcher and his mate made off on the motorcycle only to be rounded up in Naklua a short time later.

The two failed bag snatchers aged 15 and 17 it appears were school mates and had hatched their snatch plans to obtain money to pay for nights out with their mates. The pair have been charged with attempted aggravated theft and will now have to face a judge and their parents.

Russia Kicks out Finland in Jomtien Beach Football Competition

Finland for many years was the north west vassal state of the mighty Soviet Union. Finns and Ruskies were not the best of pals. Nowadays Russia and Finland are no longer joined at the hip but old rivalries continue. Jomtien Beach saw a cold war confrontation flare up in more warmer climes when Finland and Russia were matched against each other in the Jomtien Beach Football Competition.

As expected the Russians came out winners kicking four goals to finishing tally for the Finnish team of a single goal and kicking sand in their old rival's faces.

With the sun setting over Jomtien Beach a few hours and a few bottles of vodka later old rivalries were soon forgotten as was who had won the beach football match.

Pattaya Christmas and New Year Festive Decorations

As Pattaya City prepares to welcome Christmas and The New Year or as it is know as by businesses in Pattaya the season of happiness it is getting more difficult to differentiate between Pattaya and Blackpool. Lights and festive decorations are springing up everywhere. From Sukhumvit Road to the Beach and from Walking Street to Naklua festive lights are in abundance indicating the season of much money making happiness is nigh.

The theme this year is blue and white with the decorated dolphins everywhere. Has anyone told Pattaya City Hall how well the Pattaya Dolphins are doing this year - better not.

Oh the memories of strolling down Blackpool parade with a Kiss-Me-Quick hat on - try doing that on Pattaya Beach - far too risky.

Products sold to the public must meet stringent standards, contain products as advertised, be of the correct weight as indicated and not have exceeded their sell by date. It's two or three years since they visited Big C Extra and the store got the thumbs up from the expert inspectors from the Pattaya Department of Public Health and Environment.

I visit Big C Extra regularly and the only thing I have seen that is well past the sell buy date is well....Me - when I look in the mirror.

He was pretty drunk, lost his footing and dissapeared through a hole and plummeted 5 storys to the ground colliding with some steel bars on the way down which partially broke his fall.

Middle Eastern Man in Pattaya Cons Pratamnack Store out of Big Bucks

Things are getting weirder in Pattaya, if that is at all possible. Pattaya police were dispatched to investigate a crime at a convenience store in Soi 5 Pratamnak Road, South Pattaya after the owner called in to say that she had been robbed.

At the store he met the owner Khyn Malee who explained what had happened. The robber a Middle Eastern looking gentleman armed not with a gun but with his daughter who looked about 10 years old entered the shop and selected some goods to purchase.

At the counter he presented a 100$ note. She explained that she only accepted Thai currency. He explained that he was new to Thailand and had never seen Thai currency before and could he see some Thai notes to see what they were like.

Now the part that is really really weird. She handed over 30,000 Baht in 1,000 Baht notes. After examining each note carefully he said he was still not sure and Khun Malee took pity on him and accepted the 100$ note.

Indian Tourist Robbed By High Heeled Thieves on Pattaya Beach

Pattaya police were understandably on the ball when an Indian tourist went ti Pattaya police station to complain that he had been robbed by some ladyboys on Beach Road.

It is only a week since the Indian Ambassador to Thailand paid a visit to Pattaya and had high level meetings with high level police officers to complain about the high number of incidents involving citizens of his nation.

Mr. Ajar Adiha aged 41 complained that a couple of ladies that were not ladies even though they had high heels said Hi to him and then embraced him whilst he was taking the air along Beach Road and then hijacked his gold necklace valued at 17,000 Baht.

The poor, now poorer Indian tourist could not give a good description of the two lady boys so they sent a high ranking officer to accompany him back to Beach Road to see if they could see them. Unfortunately the two highwaymen had high tailed it out of there and the only thing to be seen was a pig flying high over Pattaya Bay.

The police assured the distraught tourist that they would make this case a high priority to apprehend the high heeled hijackers. Meanwhile Mr. Adiha has his police report which I am sure will please his insurance company back home.

Indian Ambassador to Thailand Visits Pattaya

Khun Itthipol the Mayor of Pattaya played host this week to His Excellency Anil Wadhwa the Indian Ambassador to Thailand.

Top of the agenda for his Excellency was the increase in complaints in recent times about accidents and incidents involving tourists from his nation visiting Pattaya and the treatment of these citizens when they are unfortunate enough to have their holiday's interupted by unfortunate events or when they are treated with less than the normal amount of respect that Indian citizens deserve.

Meetings were held with senior Pattaya police officers so that these matters and concerns could be discussed in detail. During his visit the Indian Ambassador also announced the appointment of Mr. Ram Ramachadan as his representative as a consular official to take care of the interests of Indian tourists visiting Pattaya.

I suggest the Ambassador issues a warning to it's tourists not to walk down beach road in the early hours of the morning with their pockets full of cash, mobile phones and gold necklaces hanging from their necks whilst staring at the pigs flying over Pattaya bay. Or when they partake of the traditional Thai massage that they check under the bed and give a friendly hello to the guy under the bed.

And if they expect more respect whilst partaking of the unique Pattaya entertainment experience that they buy a beer each rather than one beer and six straws.

But what they could take home were unique pictures of the Thai people paying homage to their beloved monarch.

The crowd then wended their way down Beach Road. Neon free and alcohol free Walking Street to Bali Hai pier in South Pattaya where a formal ceremony led by the mayor of Pattaya Khun Itthipol took place.

Khun Watcharat the head of regional delivery is confident that the company can see out the year with a zero accident rate and urged his staff to stay diligent and drive with care.

I am sure his staff are careful drivers. I worry about all the other idiots on the road. So I suggest that they arm themselves with all the Buddha images, Buddha statues and Buddhist amulets mount them on their dashboards, touch wood, throw salt over their shoulders, kiss a frog and generally avoid breaking any mirrors or walking under any ladders whilst delivering their bags of frozen water.

Hundreds of spectators watched from the beach as sleek speedboats rocketed around a series of buoys that's B.O.U.Y.S not B.O.Y.S.

A bottle of wine was opened and they drank some wine before he passed out and woke up the next day.

Police took evidence at the scene, fingerprints and also took the wineglasses to be sent for forensic examination to see if they showed any traces of drugs. Meanwhile they hope that there will be CCTV images at the condo that will shed some light on these ladies of the night.

14 Year Old Pattaya Motorcyclist Mugged

At 5.30 pm on the 24th of November Police Colonel Somnuek of the Nongprue police was called to the scene of a street robbery where a young girl driving a motorcycle had been robbed.

At the scene near the Thipnamee Cable TV service centre by the railway tracks in East Pattaya they found a Miss Kanchana a 14 year old student and also the robber Mr. Surasak aged 32 from Chiang Mai.

It appears that Mr Surasak had pulled up alongside the girl and grabbed her handbag then rode off. She gave chase and shouted to other motorists for help. Citizens soon caught up with the robber, overwhelmed him and detained him pending the arrival of the authorities.

Mr. Surasak said that he had fallen on rough times and decided to commit the robbery to get money for food. The girl's bag  contained only 70 Baht and some make-up. I am sure the police will give him some free food as he waits to be prosecuted for the attempted theft.

There was no word if the 14 year old girl faces any charges for driving a motorcycle without a license and whilst underage.

Brit Robbed in Soi Buakhow Pattaya

He was forced to hand over his valuables.

They took a gold ring worth 26,000 Baht, 10,000 Baht and a Samsung Smart Phone worth 10,000 Baht and then rode off into the night

Police are checking local CCTV cameras to see if they can find images of the robbers or to see if there was a pig flying over Soi Buakhow at that time.

Just after midnight on the 25th of November Police Lieutenant Colonel Anuchart from The Dongtan sub station of the Pattaya police was called to a construction site nearby after a report of a stabbing involving serious injury. He rushed to the scene along with a unit of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation to provide assistance.

He was immediately transported to Bnglamung Hospital fort emergency treatment.

The attacker who caused the injuries appears to be a fellow construction worker Mr. Joe aged somewhere between 25 and 30 who fled the scene after the attack. The two had been drinking together after finishing work and discussing politics, in particular the current demonstrations that are occurring in Bangkok. This led to an altercation with bottles being broken and then Mr. Joe pulled out a knife and attacked his co-worker. Police are investigating further into this incidence and are looking for the missing Mr. Joe.

Pattaya Celebrates Loy Krathong on Pattaya Beach

On Sunday night Pattaya Beach was jam packed with Thai tourists, foreign tourists and locals who thronged to the waters edge to launch their ornate krathongs into the waves and illuminated by a sea of candles and an almost full moon.

There was much joy on the faces of the folks partaking in this ancient ceremony even if they did not know what the true meaning of the ritual is. Tourists know this as a symbol of love casting their krathongs out into the water to cement ever lasting love and granting wishes. The locals usually know the real meaning which is to appease the water Gods.

Smiles were also on the faces of the beach vendors who peddled their expensive now environmentally friendly krathongs to the crowds and providing snacks and the opportunity to sell more than a few souvenirs.

Bali Hai Pier Pattaya Loy Krathong Celebrations

Sunday night saw clear skies and cool temperatures. A perfect evening that the  fair weather helped to encourage record crowds to converge on Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya where the mayor of Pattaya Khun Itthipol presided over this years Loy Krathong activities.

It is difficult to assess what was the main attraction for the crowds. Pushing out the krathongs into the bay, lanterns and fireworks maybe. The chance to cast eyes on our noble mayor perhaps. For most the highlight were the beaury contests. Miss Loy Krathong and Miss Junior Krathong Competitions.

20 contestants competed for the 50,000 Baht worth of scholarships on offer and other prizes and of course the sashes and trophies oh and a chance to meet the mayor.

Miss Aussie Bar Pattaya Loy Krathong Beauty Queen

For local Thais the pushing out of their candle lit krathongs is the highlight of this traditional Thai Festival. For many farangs who maybe never manage to drag themselves down to the crowd thronged beach the highlight is the hundreds if not thousands of local beauties who spend hours in the beauty salon on Loy Krathong day to have their hair styled in Traditional Thai ways, elaborated make-up applied, colourful ornate silk costumes donned and fancy costume jewelry added to create the finishing touches that transform thee plainest khun Jane into a Thai Traditional Loy Krathong Model.

Many bars around Pattaya arrange lavish parties with sacrificial pigs and that special song Loy Loy Loy Krathong Dah Dah Dah Dah Dah that is great when you first hear it but can grate on the ears after many years of the same renditions.

Khun Nu the manager of the Aussie Bar on Soi 7 set up her own Loy Krathong Festival and presided over a panel of judges who carefully scrutinised the beautiful contingent of 16 Loy Krathong beauties for the title of Miss Aussie Loy Kratong 2013.

At 11.30 the contestants gathered on stage to receive the judges decision:
3rd place was Miss Pokie
Runner up was Miss Nit
And this years winner was June

Sashes and prizes were handed out and no doubt along with with many offers of you beautiful lady I buy you San Miguel lite OK.

Infant Drowns in Chonburi

Police Leutenant Pracharak of the Chonburi Police attended the scene of a tragic accident supported by a unit of a rescue Foundation after they had received reports of a young child drowning.

At the scene they were confronted with a grief stricken mother holding a wrapped bundle that was the body of her two year old son.

The mother aged 36 had left the infant in the care of some of her relatives while she took her eldest son to school. When she returned she could not find her son. A frantic search ensued and then the boy was found by a neighbour. He appears to have fallen through a gap in some wooden planking of a bridge and fallen into the water below.

Sattahip Gun Toting Teens Beat Merchant

Police Colonel Chanaphat of the Sattahip Police was called to a fracas in Sattahip by a merchant who had been threatened with a gun and assaulted by 3 teenagers. At the scene at Sattahip market he arrested the three youths, two aged 15 and the other aged 16 he also took into evidence a Motorbike chain, a percussion-cap gun, size .357 and a motorcycle used by the attackers.

The incident appears to have been sparked by the merchant who had been hurling abuse his wife - the youths thought the remarks were aimed at them and went away to return shortly after armed with the bike chain and the fake gun. They fired the cap gun causing everyone to scatter. Folks did not realise at this time that the gun was fake Then they laid into the merchant giving him a beating.

The merchant did not want to press charges as they were just kids and the incident was just a miss-understanding.

The police handed the boys over to their parents who hopefully can curb their youthful exuberance and cap their fondness for guns no matter how fake they be. And maybe the merchant will learn to treat his wife more thoughtfully or at least quietly.

Pattaya Motorcycle Racers Killed On Sukhumvit Road

At 1.15 am on the 18th of November Pattaya Police Officers from Dongtan Police sub-station were called to a fatal road accident on Sukhumvit Road near Pattaya School Number 7.

The accident scene was pure carnage with two motorcycles scattered in small pieces across a large section of the highway and two dead young motorcyclists whose deformed bodies and blood were spattered over a long stretch of the road also.

The two motorcyclists were Khun Karinchai aged 23, who was driving a Yamaha Fino and Khun Anaeg aged 20 who was driving a Honda Sonic. They were part of a gang of about 10 Thai youths who had staged a road race on the main highway. These races are quite commonplace on Thai highways and are pretty stupid. This one was not stupid it was insane. They decided to race a 3 km course that included riding at high speed into oncoming traffic.

During the race, a pick-up truck approached the racing motorcyclists who were forced to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision. Both riders came off their bikes and were killed instantly. The result was pretty inevitable. The only good part was that only the idiots died and no innocent bystanders.

Traffic returning home after Loy Krathong celebrations was brought to a standstill whilst the police took photographs and gathered evidence then the debris was cleared and  the road hosed down. The remains of the motorcyclists were taken to Banglamung Hospital by a rescue unit for post mortems to be carried out.

Inside the vehicle was a young lady Khun Chanyanan aged 35 who had been shot in the chest and face by her boyfriend Khun Siwanutpipat aged 20 who works as a Security Guard at an oil company in Leam Chabang. The shots inside the vehicle were fired by Khun Siwanutpipat who new the game was up after the police disabled his vehicle and he had tried to murder his girlfriend and then attempted to kill himself.

The couple were extracted from the vehicle and rushed by rescue workers from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation to the nearby Bangkok Pattaya Hospital where they remain in a serious condition and the boyfriend is under police guard who wait to talk to him when he is in a fit state to talk. The police removed evidence from the blood stained car including a .38mm pistol and ammunition.

Police had earlier received a report from a maid at The Wongamat Residence Hotel in Soi 16 off the Naklua Road after a maid had alerted the authorities when she saw a young Thai man dragging a young lady out of the hotel at gunpoint and forcing her into the Toyota. Police soon spotted the vehicle and gave chase resulting in the crash and the two shooting victims.

Khun Picha aged 28, the sister of the alleged gunman was interviewed and said that the couple frequently quarrelled and this incident probably resulted from her brother's uncontrollable jealousy.

Chonburi Buffalo Racing Festival

At the Baan Bung market in Chonburi Khun Sonthana the Minister of Culture presided over the opening ceremony of the Baan Bung Buffalo Festival.

He welcomed the many tourists and competitors and participants who had travelled from all over Thailand for this long standing event that showcases the prowess and beauty of the noble animal the Buffalo which hold such a prominent place in the hearts of most Thais.

The Festival will see of course many fine beasts competing in different races for the title of fastest buffalo and also buffalo beauty completions for such titles as best male buffalo, best female buffalo, best buffalo calf and best albino buffalo.

For the opening parade monks came along to bless the buffaloes, a buffalo fancy dress competition was held and also a singing competition however it is not known whether this was for the buffaloes or for their proud owners.

So next time you hear the words. My Papa's Buffalo is sick then take notice he could be a prize winner, the buffalo of course not the father.

Pattaya United Fans Riot

On Sunday night the 27th of October at the Nong Prue Municipality Sports Stadium there was a crunch match in the Toyota Thailand Premier Football League where Pattaya United played host to Chiang Rai United.

What was not welcomed was what resulted at the end of the match when Pattaya United succumbed to a penalty kick in the 67th minute which resulted in a 0-1 defeat for the local team who face almost certain relegation at the end of the season.

At the end of the match about 2,000 disgruntled Pattaya United fans invaded the field and a riot broke with their fury targetted at the referee and the Pattaya United team coach Khun Nitipoom.

The Head Coach Khun Nitipoom who was able to disguise himself as a Police Officers and sneak out of the stadium without being hurt. Beer cans, water bottles were turned into missiles. The referee was rescued by some of the 100 Pattaya police and military police officers on duty.

The riot ended when the crowd dispersed after about an hour. Although serious damage was sustained by the stadium no arrests were made and a further penalty may be kicked in Pattaya United's direction when an inquiry into the fan's behavior is made by the football league authorities.

The whereabouts of the Head coach is as yet unknown and the referee who virtually gave the match to Chiang Rai United by awarding the late penalty is said to be enjoying a well earned all expenses holiday on the banks of the river Mekong in the north of Thailand.

Iranian Child Mollester Arrested in Pattaya

In the early hours of Monday mornining Pattaya police Leutenant Kwanchai was called to The Ibis Hotel on soi 1 in Central Pattaya after an Iranian tourist had been detained by security guards for molesting a 13 year old girl.

The young lady, her name was not given for obvious reasons, had been asked by her mother to go up to their hotel room on the fourth floor to collect the family's pet dog that was sick and needed to be taken to see a vet.

On the way back down the lift stopped on the third floor and the Iranian tourist Mr. Amin Azizi aged 29 entered the lift. He at first stroked the dog and then pinned her in a corner of the lift, tried to embrace her and then proceeded to try to molest her. The lift was soon down to the ground floor and she ran to her mother who was waiting for her in the lobby.

Security guards were informed who grabbed the Iranian and held him until police arrived on scene. Police are investigating and expect charges to be filed shortly.

Indian Tourist in Pattaya Changes Story

Pattaya Police seem to be finally wising up to the tourist insurance fraud scam. Pattaya police have had to cope for a long time with muggings and robberies especially on Beach Road and especially allegedly committed by ladboys. There is no doubt that these crimes do happen but when tourists report ficticious criminal activities purely for the sake of getting a police report so that they can make a claim when they get home it causes a severe drain on police time and resources that could be better used investigating real crimes and bringing real criminals to book.

On Monday the 28th of October an Indian tourist Mr. Sushil Eumar aged 57 presented himself at Pattaya Police Station claiming to have been robbed of a 22kt gold necklace and pendant worth approximately a million Baht. The robbery, he said, took place as he took a stroll along beach road and was surrounded by a bunch of three lady boys who relieved him of his family jewels, the necklace and pendant of course.

Police showed him a book of mug shots of known he/she robbers but Mr. Eumar was not able to identify any of the thieves.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chuangchote was not convinced by the tourist's story. After all a million Baht gold necklace is not an everyday item and being worn by a tourist especially an Indian tourist whilst strolling along Pattaya Beach Road promenade well is just a tad unlikely.

He was warned that if he was lying he could be charges with a crime himself and have could end up having an extra holiday free of charge at the Pattaya Police Hilton.

Mr. Eumar tried to save face and did not want to accept the policeman's kind offer of free accommodation so he changed his story and now thinks he must have dropped it somewhere. At the moment the police are not pressing any charges until their investigations are complete.

It seems as though Pattya police have taken my advice and are looking to the heavens for inspiration and taking a look over Pattaya Bay to see if there are any pigs making a fly by before accepting anymore dubious crime reports from down and out tourist scammers.

Russian Tourists in Pattaya Clocked

A word of warning to tourists looking to buy watches in Pattaya. You had better WATCH OUT The bargain you are looking for could get you more than you bargained for.

A group of Russian tourists browsing the stalls of a tourist souvenir mecca near Soi Skaaw Beach on second road clocked what they thought were some really fine brand name timepieces. So they thought they would take some time to peruse the wares.

A particularly fine watch needed a second look and the salesman was persuasive that this was the right time to buy a genuine fake watch. The Russian thought this could be hours if the price is right but what about a guarantee. Of course sir this watch is guaranteed to be a real fake, guaranteed waterproof, guaranteed shockproof, guaranteed burglarproof and probably 100% proof Vodka proof.

The Russian tourist Mr. Andrey Pratasov thought that he was being wound up and without a second thought dropped the watch into a nearby glass of water. Whoops wrong movement. This is when he found out that a Thai guarantee has no time limit. Just a guarantee that a watch will work fine up to the moment that it doesn't work at which time the guarantee is not as waterproof as first claimed.

You break it you buy it was a phrase that didn't translate well into Russian and Mr. Pratasov decided that this was the time to decline the offer and the right time to make a movement to exit.

Wrong decision he was then clocked, and clocked again time after time after time receiving a severe beating, bruises and lacerations to his face by the watch vendor and his band of strapping mates.

The Russian's mates in turn acted in a timely manner and called in the police who by the time they arrived found that the watch sellers had another day and date lined up elsewhere and had disappeared.

The police were alarmed that this could happen at this time in the fine city of Pattaya. The police examined CCTV cameras that showed that the attack had indeed taken place on the day and date that was claimed and assured the battered Russian that they would not lose a single second on this watch case and would follow up and find the villains, prosecute them and make sure that if found guilty they would certainly serve time for their crime.

Chonburi Fatal Motorbike Accident

Police Lieutenant Suthipong of the Chonburi police was called to the scene of a fatal road accident at Km 3 on the Chonburi Baan Bung road at Tanbon Nongree.

At the scene he came across the body a female victim Khun Suthee aged 25 laying in the road with serious head injuries. Another victim who was seriously injured and whose identity at that time was not known had been transported already by a rescue unit in a coma.

There were two motorcycles involved. A Honda Wave that had the front end demolished and a Suzuki Smash that was laying on the ground nearby.

The father of the deceased told the police that they were returning home and were only about 200 meters from their house when they were in a collision with the other motorbike. Pattaya Flooding Aid

A press conference was held to announce the results of recent efforts in Pattaya to collect donations for flood relief for the victims of recent heavy rain and flooding in Prachinburi province.

Mr Wuttisak the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya along with Ms Phanee the Director of Social Development in Pattaya jointly announced that the recent efforts to collect flood relief supplies at collection points across the city had netted a total of goods and cash to the tune of 70,000 Baht.

Nongprue East Pattaya Flood Aid

The Nongprue Municipal offices was the venue for a group of dignitaries and council officials to gather together to accept donations destined to be dispatched to help victims who are struggling to cope after a more severe than normal monsoon season has brought flooding to many parts of Thailand.

There were many folks who came along to donate food, day to day supplies and cash. Just one of the many donors to turn up was Khun Anya from the Daiartee Bar in Soi Nernbplubwan who brought along goods that had been collected at her establishment.

The donated items such as rice, noodles , water, canned food will be packaged up and then transported to be handed out to families affected by the flooding.

Sattahip Crazy Drugs Donation

Donation centres have been set up all over the region to collect essential items like food and clothing and daily necessities to help the flood victims who are struggling to survive after the recent spell of heavy rains.

The general public have responded admirably. Sometimes the folks donate items, sometimes they donate money. On Saturday morning the 14th of October a most unusual donation was made at a centre in Sattahip. A guy walking in and donated a bag containing 11 Yaa Baa tablets (Methamphetamine tablets) and suggested that they sell the tablets, value about 3,000 Baht and use the money for flood relief aid.

Volunteers were understandably flabbergasted ad the authorities were notified. Drug suppression agents from the local Thai naval base promptly came along and arrested a Mr. Jakrukat aged 39. It seems that Mr. Jakrukat had already consumed several tablets that morning of Yaa Baa or the crazy drug if one uses the literal translation, which prompted him into having the crazy idea of making this crazy donation.

Mr. Jakrukat, who already has form and has served time for drug trafficking gave up the name of his supplier Khun Jumlong who dealt out of the Map Ta Put Industrial Area in Rayong Province. He is currently helping the agents with their enquiries. The agents raided Mr. Jakrukat's home but found no more drugs. The only thing of interest was a .38 calibre gun and ammunition which were duly confiscated and certainly not donated to help in relief for the flood victims.

Firework Truck Blaze on the Bangn-Trat Highway Near Pattaya

A potential disaster was averted by the hard work of brave fire fighters who tackled a blaze that had engulfed a truck carrying fireworks and firecrackers at a toll booth on the Bangn-Trat Highway.

The 18 wheel truck had pulled up to the toll booth to pay the toll when the cashier Miss Sirirat aged 29  noticed smoke coming from a back wheel on the truck. She told the driver of the Hino truck who moved away from the toll booth and parked up on the left just past the toll gates.

The wheel immediately burst into flames. The fire spread quickly to the main body of the vehicle and it's explosive cargo. The driver got his wife out of the cab and attempted to tackle the rapidly spreading flames with a fire extinguisher. But had to back off as the fire took hold.

Ten Fire engines were soon on the scene and they worked diligently to bring the fire under control. It took more than two hours to finally put out the fire and end the risk of a major explosion taking place.

Chinese Tourist Drowns on Koh Larn Island Pattaya

On Sunday afternoon the 13th of October a young Chinese tourist Miss Su Lan aged 21 appears to have got cramps whilst swimming and drowned off Tawan Beach on Koh Larn Island, which is situated about 4kms off the coast of Pattaya.

Miss Su Lan was part of a tour group of Chinese tourists who had gone to the island that morning to enjoy the beaches and water sports that are a major tourist attraction for Pattaya.

Mr. Chang Liu aged 38, a tour guide, took 35 Chinese Tourists to the Island on Sunday morning. He said that Miss Su Lan went swimming and got into difficulties about 30 meters from the beach. Other people in the water and on the beach heard her shouting for help but she went under and drowned before anyone could reach her.

She was brought to the beach and taken to the medical centre where CPR was attempted but she did not respond to their efforts. Her body was brought back to Bali Hai pier and then transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a full post mortem to be carried out. The Embassy of the Republic of China in Bangkok has been notified of the death of one of their nationals.

Chonburi police were called in by a rescue Foundation unit who had found a dead man inside a vehicle. The police found an Isuzu vehicle with the driver slumped in the driver's seat. There was an empty bottle of pesticide in the vehicle and vomit inside and outside the car. It appears that the driver Khun Angat had committed suicide by swallowing the pesticide.

The daughter of the deceased Miss Khawanjai aged 16 told the police that her father worked as a driver for an office supply company and that he was experiencing severe financial difficulties at the time.

Khun Angat was transported to hospital for a full post mortem to be carried out to determine the actual cause of death before the body can be released to the family for funeral rites to be carried out.

We all know the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation from the flashing lights and wailing sirens as they rush off to attend to the victims of accidents and other life threatening incidents. What we don't possibly realise id that the foundation plays a major role in charitable works in the Pattaya area taken care as best they can of those less fortunate or suffering from some disaster.

The recent heavy rains in Pattaya have left many families short of food and basic essentials. Khun Prasit the president of the Sawang Boriboon Foundation organised a new task for his rescue units. He and volunteer workers had put together 2,000 aid packages containing food and bottles of water. and loaded up to be delivered to vthe victims of serious flash  flooding that had left many families stranded in the Phanatnikhom district of Chonburi.

Sriracha Suicide Jumper

Sriracha policed received a report that there appeared to be a man about to commit suicide on a bridge over a main road in their district.

They rushed to the scene along with a unit from the Sawang Prathip Rescue Foundation. Unfortunately they were too late. He had jumped and dropped to the road 6 meters below. He was still alive but had suffered serious injuries with a broken arm, broken leg and more importantly a broken neck. Medics from the rescue unit and from a medical team dispatched from Sriracha hospital did what they could for him and then transported him still in a serious condition to Sriracha hospital. The injured man was a Khun Saksit aged 50 who owns a local gift shop.

A witness said that he had seen the man who lingered on the bridge for about 5 minutes and seemed to be in a depressed state. Some local people were also concerned and they had called the police but too late as the man climbed onto the parapet and then fell to the ground.

Police made enquiries at the man's home where neighbours said that he seemed to be having family problems and that his wife had left the house a few days before and not returned.

Police also had footage from a CCTV camera on the bridge that had recorded the incident. Unfortunately Khun Saksit didn't make it. He succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the fall and died in hospital.
