Firework Truck Blaze on the Bangn-Trat Highway Near Pattaya

A potential disaster was averted by the hard work of brave fire fighters who tackled a blaze that had engulfed a truck carrying fireworks and firecrackers at a toll booth on the Bangn-Trat Highway.

The 18 wheel truck had pulled up to the toll booth to pay the toll when the cashier Miss Sirirat aged 29  noticed smoke coming from a back wheel on the truck. She told the driver of the Hino truck who moved away from the toll booth and parked up on the left just past the toll gates.

The wheel immediately burst into flames. The fire spread quickly to the main body of the vehicle and it's explosive cargo. The driver got his wife out of the cab and attempted to tackle the rapidly spreading flames with a fire extinguisher. But had to back off as the fire took hold.

Ten Fire engines were soon on the scene and they worked diligently to bring the fire under control. It took more than two hours to finally put out the fire and end the risk of a major explosion taking place.
