Chinese Tourist Drowns on Koh Larn Island Pattaya

On Sunday afternoon the 13th of October a young Chinese tourist Miss Su Lan aged 21 appears to have got cramps whilst swimming and drowned off Tawan Beach on Koh Larn Island, which is situated about 4kms off the coast of Pattaya.

Miss Su Lan was part of a tour group of Chinese tourists who had gone to the island that morning to enjoy the beaches and water sports that are a major tourist attraction for Pattaya.

Mr. Chang Liu aged 38, a tour guide, took 35 Chinese Tourists to the Island on Sunday morning. He said that Miss Su Lan went swimming and got into difficulties about 30 meters from the beach. Other people in the water and on the beach heard her shouting for help but she went under and drowned before anyone could reach her.

She was brought to the beach and taken to the medical centre where CPR was attempted but she did not respond to their efforts. Her body was brought back to Bali Hai pier and then transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a full post mortem to be carried out. The Embassy of the Republic of China in Bangkok has been notified of the death of one of their nationals.
