Police Captain SaiJai of Sattahip police station received notification of the death of a young child at a house in his jurisdiction. He went along to the scene along with medics and a rescue foundation unit to provide assistance. At the scene he found 73 year old Khun Wassana and her deceased grandson Itthikorn.
Khun Wassana was obviously distraught. She had brought up and cared for the young boy since he was a baby. Her son, the child's father Khun Munwong aged 35 who is in the Thai military had left the boy with his mother Khun Wassana after he had split up with his wife soon after she gave birth to the baby.
The little boy Itthikorn had a serious disability suffering from a rare condition that had caused his head to almost twice the normal size.
Police Captain SaiJai and the village headman and concerned local residents got together to take the child to the local temple for funeral rites to be arranged.

Sattahip Thai Fighter Pilot Pickup Driver
A Sattahip journalist was surprised and more than a little intrigued when he spotted a Nissan pick-up truck being driven by a guy who appeared to be wearing a fighter pilots helmet.
He moved in a little closer to see that the driver was also wearing camouflage, maybe it was a flight suit. Maybe he was really a fighter pilot and had mistaken his Nissan Big M for his F16 fighter jet. He wanted to interview so he followed the truck but he lost top gun look alike guy but lost him in the traffic.
He made enquiries locally and found out the Tom Cruise look alike's name - Khun Nattee a 46 year old local businessman.
Finally he was face to face or was it face to visor with the feisty fake fighter pilot. Khun Nattee explained that he wore the helmet for safety reasons, just in case he was involved in an accident. He said that he was perhaps more than a little obsessed with Thai top gun types and besides which it was not against the law to dress up in such a way even when driving his pick-up or his motorcycle and agreed that maybe he looked a little like a supersonic clown but what the hell.
I wonder if he has fitted his Nissan Big M with afterburners, sidewinder missiles and an ejection seat. After all this is Thailand.

Sattahip Body on the Beach
Bodies washing up on Sattahip beaches are are a fairly common occurrence. Usually it is foreign fishermen conducting their occupations along the coast who are found either on the beaches or floating close by after falling into the water from their boats or being helped by their crew mates to fall overboard.
Sattahip Police and a unit of The Sawang Rjanatham Rescue Foundation were called out by local citizens after their attention had been drawn to a rather foul smelling odour on a nearby beach.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene and using a long stick poked and prodded a blood stained black plastic bag. On opening the bag they found - a dead and decomposing wild pig that was clearly not so wild anymore.
Police buried the putrid porker nearby and are reportedly not seeking anyone for the death of this pig.

Thai Facebook Lover Decides to End It all After First Date
Facebook in Thailand gets the blame again. It should have been a beautiful love story. However it didn't quite work out and the lovelorn out of luck suitors grief reached new heights. After being rejected on the first date Khun Jeerapan aged 26 was gutted. He got drunk any excuses for a Thai to get drunk. Climbed a 50 metre tall communication tower and threatened to throw himself off if he was not re-united with the lady of his dreams.

Python Eats Sattahip Farmer's Cock
The switchboard at The Sawang Rojanatham Foundation in Sattahip was startled when they received a report from a farmer in Sattahip that his cock was dead. Whilst she was mobilising medics to rush to the scene she got more information from the farmer. It wasn't his cock it was one of his cocks that was dead. He had spotted the culprit - a large snake that was gobbling away on one of his prize cocks. Relieved she changed plans and released the rescue foundations reptile rescue squad.
At the scene behind the farmers house was a chicken coop and in the long grass behind the coop they spotted the reptilian robber merrily munching on the farmer's cock. The snake a 4 meter long python was soon snared with a steel pole and a noose. The farmer was ecstatic to know that the rest of his cocks and hens would now be safe.
The rescue squad removed the reptile and took it to a remote spot well away from chicken coops and well clear of any KFC branches.

Plutaluang Animal Shelter Takes Care of Discarded Pattaya Pets
Things are getting wuff for the pooches and moggies that are being cared for at a local home for stray animals. Members of the media were invited to take a tour of the centre for homeless pets in Plutaluang in Sattahip District not too far from Pattaya.
Thousands of stray animals pass through the centre every year. Some of them find good homes however due to the vast numbers many do not. Animals arrive at the centre usually in a very bad state. Malnourished and suffering from a host of diseases many don't even last for the first 10 days. They die even before a little TLC, food and medications can kick in.
Taking care of the animals is an expensive business. There are good folks who donate food and cash but sadly this is never enough for the centre to make ends meet. Sattahip schools and restaurants donate their surplas food and scraps but during the low season there are less tourists and less leftovers. Also during the schoool holidays school cafetrtias are closed and again the supply of leftover food dries up.
The animals that live at the animal shelter - over 1,000 dogs and cats at the present time although only getting one round meal a day gobble up 200Kg or 20 sacks of food a day. Even at discounted prices 9,000 Baht a day is a stiff price for the centre to cover. With the cost of medications vetinary care and food it takes 300,000 Baht a month just to struggle by.

Sattahip Man Hangs Himself From Tamarind Tree
Sattahip Police and a unit from The Sawang Rojanatham Rescue Foundation were called out after the body of a man had been found hanging from a tree.
At the sene in a cassava field near Moo 6 of Soi Yenrudee in Sattahip District they found the body of Khun Somwong Yensabai, aged 54. It appears that Khun Somwong had fashioned a noose from a rope, used a paint can to stand on and then committed suicide by hanging from a large Tamarind tree.
A suicide note was found in his pocket that explained that he had come to the end of his tether as he had no money to pay for rent and food and he was unable to care for himself and look after his 4 year old nephew who had been placed in his care. He also blamed relatives who had promised to send him money to help out but had renaged on their promises.
A neighbour Khun Amnuay aged 50, told the police that Khun Somwong was disabled with a gammy leg and was unable to work. Khun Somwong had asked him to look after the child that morning. He had seen his neighbour near the tamarind tree a few hours before and thought nothing of it until he went looking for him later and found him hanging from the tree.

Turtles Released from Sattahip Turtle Conversation Centre
It was Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 82nd birthday on Sunday. And 983 sea turtles must have thought it was their birthday when they were released into the sea from a beach at SattahipTurtle Conservation Centre.
The occasion close to Royal The Thai Naval Base in Sattahip was attended by a host of dignitaries from the military, government officers, The Royal Thai police, media personalities and media persons along with a whole bunch of Thai kids.
The Commissioner of Royal Thai Fleet Admiral Phicharn Theeranet presided over the ceremony to honour a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and then in honour of The queen the congregation wended it's way to the beach where the turtles were dispatched into the waves andthe pristine marine environment of The Gulf of Thailand.
Children are so lucky nowadays to get close to nature and do good things to benefit the environment and protect endagered animals. I must admit that the closest I ever got to a turtle when I was a kid was from a can labled Cambells Soup.

Sattahip Student Skirmish
Thai Boys and their Thai toys. When I was a young boy a long long time ago we used to colect football cards and Dinky Toys. How things have changed especially if you are a kid about town in some Thai town.
Sattahip Police were called in to brak up a fight between rival gangs from the same Sattahip High School. Rescue workers from The Sawang Rojjana Thamma Satharn Rescue Foundation were in attendance to patch up wounds and ferry two of the more severely injured to The Queen Sirikit hospital in Sattahip for further emergency treatment.
The reason for the skirmish - students from the same school but not the same class had been arguing with each other because one group of students had accelerated past another group on their motorcycles which annoyed them.
18 boys were arrested - Oh and the boys toys were seized including a pen gun, a bullet, a knuckle, 5 egg bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices.
The police then invited the student's parents to acknowledge their sons actions and escort them back home for a family chat before recording the incident and becausethey were just teenagers releasing these boys without any further charges.

Sattahip Buddhist Shrine Sets Home Ablaze
The Lord Buddha must have been in a bad mood this week when candles offered at a home shrine set fire to the shrine and spread to furniture and furnishings causing a major blaze.
Sattahip Police, Fire Rescue Vehicles and a quick response from the electric company - yes they do have a quick response team rushed to the scene a two story house in Moo 2 of Soi Yang Ngam in Sattahip.
Smoke was billowing from the ground floor at the rear of the house. Electricity workers had already turned off the power when fire fighters arrived to take over from the 20 or so neighbours who were attempting to tackle the blaze with buckets of water.
The fire had engulfed the whole room and it took firefighters a while to extinguish the blaze.
Kittipongkosol aged 30 said that he had lit some candles and put them on the home Buddhist Shrine as he dis every day and then took a walk outside not realising the possible consequences. It seams that the initial fire may have been exacerbated by his 84-year-old grandmother's mattress which was located near the shrine.

Banglamung White House Project
Banglamung District Officers have been touring communities in their jurisdiction to explain a new scheme to the local residents in the continuing fight against drug use in the area. The officers gathered together community leaders and citizens to explain the White House initiative.
The White House Project calls for mass drug testing in the community. People who tested positive for drugs would have a public notice pinned to the house to tell everyone that this is a home of drug users.
This project has proved to be a positive exercise in shaming the drug addicts and focussing the members of the community on those whose actions are doing harm to their own lives and the lives of others.

Sattahip Sea Turtle Conservation Center Suffers Oil Pollution
Journalists were invited to take a stroll along the beach at the Thai Navy's Sea Turtle Conservation Center in Sattahip. But it wasn't the sea turtles that they were invited to view it was a nasty 200 meter long oil slick clinging to the water's edge.
Officials said that the slick had become bad in recent days and seemed to be even worse in the early morning as the tide came in. The slick was creating a bad smell that wafted the full length of the beach. Fortunately it seams that the turtles had a good sense of smell and were giving the beach the elbow or giving it the flipper whatever way you want to look at it the presence of oil was not a good thing and officials worried about the pollution of t he turtle habitat and the local marine habitat that was home to dozens of species.
Coast Guard and Naval assets have been deployed to try to find the source of the sticky, smelly pollutants.

Former Thai Buddhist Temple Boys Steal From Sattahip Temple
3 former temple boys are in deep trouble with the police and in deeper dooda with The Lord Buddha after they were caught stealing from the donation box at Pa Yoob temple in Amphur Sattahip.
The 3 boys aged 13, 15 and 16 were apprehended by a monk at the temple as they were making off with money from the donation box along with food and drink items that had been donated by members of the public. The boys said that they needed the money to play online games and confessed that they had stolen from the temple many times before.
The abbot of Pa Yoob temple said that the 3 boys were ex-temple boys of his temple and they had been caught stealing before but he felt sorry for them, forgave them and made them leave the temple, but they came back and were caught stealing again so he decided it was time to call the police.

Human Trafficker, Loan Shark Captured by Police Military in Sattahip
A press conference was held at Sattahip Police Station to announce the result of a recent joint police - military crime suppression operation. The operation was in accordance with crime suppression policies instigated by The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) that intends to eliminate trouble and suffering to Thai people from various crimes all over the country.
There was a fine aray of police and military officers dressed in their finery at Sattahip police station, including Captain Khomphan Ouppalanon (Director of Joint Operations and Intelligence, Sattahip Naval Base), Pol.Col. Chonnaphat Nawalak (Superintendent of Sattahip police station), Pol.Lt.Col. Niphon Pomsanarm (Deputy Superintendent), Pol.Lt.Col. Pawatchai Sudsakhon (Deputy Superintendent) and loads of other members of the navy and police who are too low in rank to be worthy of a mention.
The criminals on parade today Mrs Nong Phimphannee, aged 48, Cambodian national. It is alleged that she is an illegal alien running a human trafficking operation to bring in other illegal aliens and placing them in jobs. Sort of like an Illegal worker Manpower service. She was arrested with incriminating evidence that documents the un-documented workers and the fees collected. Obviously she should have placed herself in a suitable Accountancy job.
Next was her younger brother Mr. Thanasak aged 28 who is charged with being an alleged loan shark preying on poor Thai victims who he would make poorer by charging them extortionate interest rates. as well supplying illegal workers to the Bang Sarey District. It is alleged that Mr Thanasak was ripping off military families by charging 20% interest per loan to sailors’ housewives in the navy area.
With the closing down by the police/military of these dangerous criminals we can all sleep a little easier in our beds.

Sattahip Schoolboys Attempted Rape Meeting With Parents
Sattahip Police Captain Aekachai held a meeting with the parents of 8 school boys who allegedly attempted to gang rape one of their classmates. The girl managed to escape her tormentors by biting two of them and screaming for help. A teacher heard her screams and managed to intervene and save the girl from any further ordeals.
The meeting in the presence of social workers from The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security was to decide how to proceed with the allegations of the youngsters indulging in indecent acts against another minor.
It was decided that any prosecutions will be handed over to the central juvenile and family court in order for the boys to be prosecuted.

Sattahip TukTuk Driver Found Dead
Sattahip police and rescue workers rushed to help a TukTuk driver who seemed to be in distress in Moo 6 Sattahip. When they arrived they found that they could do nothing as the 77 year old driver Khun Supon was already dead.
Police were puzzled about the cause of death. The deceased had no visible injuries but seemed to have been convulsing had a lot of foam around his mouth.
Police talked to his landlady Khun Dollaporn aged 68 who said that Khun Supol had lived there for about a year and diligently left for work at 4am every day. On that day he had helped to take a customer to hospital who was suffering from angina.
The body of Khun Sopon was transported to Sattahip Hospital for a full autopsy to be carried out that should throw some light on the actual cause of death.

Songkran turns Violent in Sattahip Three Thai Men Beaten up
Sattahip Police and Units of The Sawang Rojana Rescue Foundation were called to an incident on Sukhumvit Road opposite the Marine Corps base. At the scene they found three men laying on the floor. They had suffered multiple cuts and bruises.
Khun Thanawa aged 50, Khun Yuthatchai aged 45 and Khun Triwat aged 43 were given first aid at the scene and then transported to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip for further emergency treatment.
Eyewitness said that there were two groups of drunken Songkran revellers whose water splashing resulted in an altercation. The three older men went to intervene and were beaten up by the drunken youths who had then of course done a runner.

Mystery Sattahip Patient Looking to Go Home
Management at Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip are releasing details of a patient that was brought into the hospital in October last year who they still do not know the name of. The Thai male aged somewhere between 25 and 30 had been involved in a road accident and transported to the hospital with serious head injuries.
The man needed expensive brain surgery to save his life which the hospital carried out and have provided medical and nursing care for the last 180 days. He is now in a condition where he can be released and sent home but no friends or relatives have come forward to lay claim to the unfortunate accident victim.
Staff at the hospital stress that they will always provide treatment for patients be they Thai or foreigners but these types of cases put an enormous strain on the medical and financial resources of the hospital.

Smelly Problem in Sattahip
Khun Pairote the mayor of Khet Udomsak district in Sattahip presided over a meeting to attempt to solve a smelly problem. What to do with a vast rubbish dump that was causing obnoxious odours to waft over local communities and respiratory problems to locals in the area.
The dump is spread over about 100 Rai of land and rubbish is piled up several meters high. The stink from the hundred of thousands of tonnes of rotting garbage is intolerable to local residents and on windy days the evil smell could spread for several kilometers.
Residents said that when it rained their land and properties were inundated with foul smelling waste that was making them very worried about their health. and the health of their families.
The council told the residents that 10 million Baht had been allocated greenify the dump and to remove the contents of the landfill and return the area back to nature. The only down size was that the residents would have to endure another five years until the job could be completed.
There were several dissenting voices to the council plans and cries of Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish could be heard echoing around the council meeting room.

Sattahip Naval Officer Survives LPG Vehicle Fire
A 33 year old Royal Thai Navy officer Khun Wirachon is a lucky chappy after he escaped unsinged when his car burst into flames. The fire brigade and rescue units were despatched after receiving reports of a vehicle on fire in a car park of an accommodation unit used by naval personnel in Sattahip.
Fire brigade officers directed their hoses on the burning vehicle. The fire was concentrated in the engine compartment of the Honda Civic however they were eager to reach the trunk of the car to turn off the LPG gas cylinder and cut off the gas that was fueling the engine bay fire. It took only 10 minutes to douse the flames and avert the risk of a gas explosion.
Khun Wirachon said later that he had got in the car to go shopping and when he turned on the ignition key he heard an electric click and thinks that a spark ignited LPG gas that may have collected under the bonnet. He had the LPG equipment fitted about three years ago and thinks that being old it may have sprung a leak.
So the lucky Khun Wirachon survived the incident but sadly his Honda Civic did not fare so well. If anyone has a cheap Honda Civic vehicle for sale preferably without LPG Khun Wirachon can be contacted at Sattahip Naval Base.
