Pattaya Motorcycle Racers Killed On Sukhumvit Road

At 1.15 am on the 18th of November Pattaya Police Officers from Dongtan Police sub-station were called to a fatal road accident on Sukhumvit Road near Pattaya School Number 7.

The accident scene was pure carnage with two motorcycles scattered in small pieces across a large section of the highway and two dead young motorcyclists whose deformed bodies and blood were spattered over a long stretch of the road also.

The two motorcyclists were Khun Karinchai aged 23, who was driving a Yamaha Fino and Khun Anaeg aged 20 who was driving a Honda Sonic. They were part of a gang of about 10 Thai youths who had staged a road race on the main highway. These races are quite commonplace on Thai highways and are pretty stupid. This one was not stupid it was insane. They decided to race a 3 km course that included riding at high speed into oncoming traffic.

During the race, a pick-up truck approached the racing motorcyclists who were forced to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision. Both riders came off their bikes and were killed instantly. The result was pretty inevitable. The only good part was that only the idiots died and no innocent bystanders.

Traffic returning home after Loy Krathong celebrations was brought to a standstill whilst the police took photographs and gathered evidence then the debris was cleared and  the road hosed down. The remains of the motorcyclists were taken to Banglamung Hospital by a rescue unit for post mortems to be carried out.
