On the 5th of December Thailand celebrated the 86th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The revered monarch so loved and adulated by his subjects the Thai people. In Pattaya a large parade marched down to Bali Hai pier in South Pattaya where an elaborate ceremony paying homage to The King took place.
The ceremony was led by the Mayor of Pattaya Khun Itthipol and attended by government officials, military officers, police officers, representatives from public and private sectors, school kids and thousands of local Thais and foreign tourists.
The mayor presented a ceremonial tray and lit candles in front of a portrait of His Majesty. The whole crowd joined in the candle ceremony and in the singing of the Sansoen Phra Barami song and Sa Du Dee Ma Ha Ra Cha song The Royal anthem. The event culminated with a salute of fireworks that rang out over Pattaya bay.
