School Boy Bag Snatchers in Pattaya

It's holiday time for Pattaya's school kids. So forget the idea of finding a seat in the local Internet cafe as they will be full of 12, 13, 14, 15 year old Thai kids playing shoot up games.

Harassed Thai parents are happy to see the kids out of the house so will generously press 30 or 40 Baht into their grubby hands to pay for food and entertainment for the day.

Unfortunately that is woefully inadequate for the modern Internet gaming addict who needs way more to pay for the shop, energy drinks and bags of crisps as well as more illicit substances that many youngsters turn to to keep up with their peers. So how to get more money? - easy Pattaya streets are full of walking ATM machines that need no ATM card or pin number - they are called Russian tourists.

Banglamung Police were called to yet another school kid bag snatching incident in Soi 14/1 Naklua North Pattaya.

Two Russian tourists Mr. Aleksandr Leontev aged 53 and Mrs. Chaizada Leonteva aged 50 were on their way to get a taxi to Jomtien when two kids on a motorbike tried to snatch the lady's hand bag containing 2,000 Euros in cash, a Mobile Phone and personal documents. Mr. Leontev was not happy and managed to drag the 18 year old robber off the back of the bike. His 15 year old accomplice rode off leaving his mate behind to face the music.

Khun Bik was bruised and more than a little battered by the time Banglamung police arrived and quickly confessed to the attempted robbery. He said that his was the third robbery they had carried out this week.

So just another hazard to watch out for whilst walking the sunny streets of Pattaya - Lady Boys, Drug pushers, pickpocketers, Indian tailors and now Thai school kids.
