Sattahip Bangkok Passenger Vans Drugs Tests

Sattahip District officers and Transport Department officials manned a traffic check point at Km 10 to check passenger vans operating on the Sattahip - Bangkok route.

The checks have been prompted by a string of complaints from passengers about the erratic behaviour of the drivers of some vans and a string of accidents that have caused numerous injuries and deaths when vans have inexplicably crashed, left the road and turned over.

It is well known that the drivers who face long journeys as part of their daily routine are often prone to taking drugs like amphetamines to stay awake. At this traffic stop 6 drivers had their urine tested with just one failing the test. This driver was detained for further tests to confirm the presence of narcotics.

Concerned passengers can call 1584 and make their complaints directly to The Department of Land Transport.
