Police Colonel Supachai of Banglamung Police led a team of senior police officers at a press conference to announce the arrest of a gang of Thai youths operating in the Nongplalai area of East Pattaya and the seizure of a sizable quantity of drugs, weapons and ammunition.
The five youths aged between 18 and 15 years old were snared after an undercover sting operation caught one member trying to sell crystal Methamphetamine - Yaa Ice to an undercover drugs suppression agent.
The arrest of this single drug dealer soon led to the arrest of four other members of the gang and the seizure of 5 unlicensed guns and ammunition that went with them. In addition another 9 bags of Yaa Ice in total 5.4 grammes was found.
The guns had been bought for 5-0,000 Baht apiece and the Yaa Ice was on sale for 2,500 Baht per gramme. The group face a variety of serious charges ranging from drugs possession and drugs distribution to the possession of illegal weapons in a public place.
