Accident Death of Chinese Tour Guide Outside Floating Market Pattaya

Pattaya Police from the Dongtan sub station along with units from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation responded quickly to reports of a serious road accident outside the floating market on Sukhumvit Road involving multiple vehicles, multiple injuries and a fatality. The scene was pure chaos with several tour buses and vehicles damaged and a large crowd of onlookers.

Several people had been injured and medics set to work to treat them of immediate concern was a Chinese tour guide Miss Liu Miao Ya aged 25 who works for the Lucky Guide Express Company who had taken a direct hit from a pick-up truck that had caused the accident. Unfortunately Miss Liu Miao Ya succumbed to her injuries and died.

Now the police could try to sort out what happened to cause the mayhem. It was soon apparant that an Isuzu Pick-up driven by Khun Patarapong aged 20 had caused the crash.

Khun Patarapong was injured and needed treatment but was able to respond to police questioning. Khun Patarapong said that he was returning to his base in Huay Yai with a load of bottled soda on board. He said that he had taken some prescription medication that morning and appeared to have dozed off at the wheel.

His loss of control had dire consequences as at that moment he was passing a very busy tourist venue The Floating market. The pick up truck collided with two tour buses one from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and another carrying Chinese tourists. The pick up damaged several parked cars and then ended up wedged on the pavement scattering it's load of soda bottles.

Several people had sustained minor injuries and were treated by medics on scene most declining to go to hospital. The driver Khun Patarapong was transported to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further emergency treatment and has been charged with causing death through dangerous driving.

The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok has been notified of the death of one of it's nationals and a full post mortem will be carried out before the body can be handed over to relatives for funeral rites to be carried out.
