Chonburi Police are investigating the circumstances which led to a 17 year old girl being found hiding in a Buddhist Shrine at Wat Pho in Ban Amphur Muang, Chonburi.
Temple officials who found the girl who was wearing only pyjamas took her to the police station.
Her story was quite disturbing. She said that she had been taken captive by a group of men who locked her up in a small room. Injected her with drugs to keep her quiet and then forced her to sit all day long on overpasses around the city begging for money from passers by.
She had managed to escape and had taken refuge in the temple.
Police are looking into her claims and looking for the men who held her captive. Meanwhile she is being cared by the department of social services whilst her parents can be tracked down.
