New Born Baby in South Pattaya Abandoned at Workers Camp in Pratamnack

Pattaya Police and a unit from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were dispatched to a workers camp in Pratamnack after a new born baby had been found abandoned.

At the campsite run by the Powerlite Company in Pratamnuk Soi 3 in South Pattaya they found a baby that had seemingly been abandoned by the mother just after it was born. The baby boy was covered in a few scratches and bruises but was otherwise alright and making noises like new born babies normally do.

Rescue workers wrapped up the baby and rushed him to Banglamung Hospital. Medical staff examined the baby and ascertained that he had been born prematurely and weighed only 2kg less than half the normal full term birth weight.

Back at the camp the police examined the toilet block a cinder block structure with a galvanised iron roof and found blood stains that are thought to have occurred as a result of the birth.

They interviewed a 56 year old lady who had found the baby. She said that she was passing the toilet when she heard what she thought was a baby crying. she went towards where the noise was coming from and was shocked to find the bloody baby tossed on the ground like garbage.

There are many mainly Cambodian workers at the site where police are concentrating their enquiries as they think the mother may well be a worker living there.

The baby is being taken care of in the premature baby unit at Banglamung Hospital and is said to be doing just fine despite his unorthodox and lonely entry into the world.
