Sattahip police were called in to investigate a mysterious death of an unknown man who had been found floating about 300 meters off a headland near the Sattahip Naval Base.
The body had been found by naval personnel managing a station near the scene who had called in the civilian police to carry out the investigation.
The body had no identification but had several tattoos from which someone may be able to provide a clue as to who he is. 165 cm tall and aged somewhere between 30 an 40 the body had been in the water for about 15 days and was badly decomposed. He had various wounds that were difficult to make out and had a rope tied around his neck.
It is not uncommon in this area to find bodies of people who had been murdered and their bodies dumped at sea.
The body was transported to Sattahip Hospital for a full forensic post mortem to be carried out that may shed more light on the identity of the man and how he died.
