East Pattaya Shooting Injures Old Lady

The east side of Pattaya is rapidly getting the reputation as the wild west as yet another shooting incident this time claimed a 67 year old woman who was asleep in bed as the latest victim. She was lucky - if being shot is lucky that the bullet wound was only to her hand - but at her age - well words fail me.

She was rushed to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for emergency treatment by family members as they contacted the police and also called her son Khun Surachat aged 34, who works as a security Guard at the Seed Pub in Central Pattaya who was the target of the drive by shooting.

Nongprue Police examining the house in Soi Chayapornviti in East Pattaya counted bullet holes and 9mm shell casings and reckon 31 shots were fired at the house in the early hours of the morning.

Khun Surachat was targeted because he did his job. A few days earlier he broke up a fight between two rival gangs at the pub he worked at.

Some of the gang members fired shots in the air as they left the pub and pledged vengeance against the security guard. They carried out their threats with witnesses stating that they saw four gangsters on two motorcycles emptying their automatic weapons into the house.

Police are aware that the shooters probably live in the Tamsamakee Temple area of East Pattaya and are concentrating their inquiries there.
