Khun Mai the Mayor of Nongprue presided over a ceremony at Nernplubwan School in East Pattaya to present certificates to students who have recently completed a drugs awareness training programme.
Also at the ceremony was the School director, Senior Nongprue police officers, Community leaders and of course the parents of the students who were receiving certificates.
The programme called DARE is run by the local police and students attend a one hour training session once a week for thirteen weeks. The aim of the course is to bring awareness of the negative aspects of drugs and to combat drug use in children. 77 kids at this school graduated the DARE programme which is being run regularly in many schools in the area as well as across Thailand.
