Thailand Illegal Gambling on the World Cup

The World cup is captivating football fans all over Thailand as it is captivating folks all over the world apart from English fans who have been disheartened by their teams consistency in obtaining a consistent result in this prestigious tournament. Odds are the English team will be taking an early bath and an early flight back to Blighty.

Thai football fans are also placing their bets which is a severe problem as gambling is illegal in Thailand. Police officers in Chonburi had wind of many establishments such as Internet cafes that were acting as pseudo bookmakers where punters would come to watch matches and have more than an occasional flutter. Bangsean police faced with many reports decided to hedge their bets and focus on one establishment that seemed a dead cert.

The police raided the premises of 23 year old Khun Phisit resulting in him and 8 of his patrons losing their chance of freedom and they will now need to throw their hand in with a Thai judge.

It was a result for the police as 50,000 Baht was seized. What are the odds that The Police in Bangsean at least will not be short of a cup of tea at least until the next World Cup.
