Sattahip Gold Necklace Snatch

Sattahip police rushed to investigate a snatch and grab incident in their area where a retired military officer had had his pride and joy gold necklace grabbed by two punks on a motorcycle. At the scene at Soi Sattahip Sukhumwit 81 they met with Khun Rungsak Arunpruek aged 61.

He told the officers that he was stood at a roadside fruit stall buying some durian when two suspicious characters wearing all black outfits and sporting full face helmets rode by on a motorcycle. Shortly after they returned and the pillion passenger attempted to grab his 4 Baht gold necklace. At first he failed but then he got off the bike and this time managed to get his grubby hands on the necklace.

Khun Rungsak was not going to give it up that easily and hung on to the necklace for dear life. It broke and the robber made off with only half of it before jumping on the motorcycle and being whisked away by his accomplice.

Khun Rungsak was heartbroken as all his life savings were tied up in this piece of jewelry. Police are aware that this type of crime is becoming more common and at this time thieves are getting more active as they are trying to raise funds to clear their World Cup gambling debts.

Police took the victims statement and are now looking at CCTV cameras in the area to see if they can glean any clues to the identifies of these highway robbers.
