Burmese Tourist Robbed By Middle Eastern Fraudster on Pattaya Second Road

A Burmese tourist Mr. Soe Lin aged 29 made his way to Pattaya Police station to report that he had been duped by a conman who had stolen 15,000 Baht in Cash.

Mr. Lin said that he had just changed some US currency to Thai Baht at an exchange booth and was standing outside a convenience store near The Alcazar Theatre on Pattaya Second Road when he was approached by a man of "middle eastern" appearance.

The man said that he was new to Thailand and was confused about the currency. He asked Mr. Lin to show him some money. Mr. Lin obliged and handed over the 30,000 Baht that he had just exchanged. The middle eastern man shuffled the notes a few times and handed them back before walking off. Moments later he realised that half the money was missing and so was the middle eastern trickster.

The police officer recorded his report and said that officers would be sent to examine CCTV cameras in the area to see if the fraudster could be identified.
