Progress in 7 year old Pattaya Girl Rape Case

Pattaya Police and Pattaya public prosecutors are building their case against the alleged rapist who subjected a 7 year girl to repeated sexual assaults after luring her to take rides on his motorcycle with promises of sweets and threats to her life.

Medical reports taken after the child was examined at Banglamung Hospital show that the girl had indeed been subject to a sexual assault.

More information of the situation that led to the abuse has come to light with details of the parents detention on drug related charges and the girl being left in the care of a food vendor.

The girl who is now in the care of the local social services department was taken to The prosecutors office to be interviewed by a multidisciplinary team of experts who are experienced in dealing with crimes against children. They are trained to be empathetic to the trauma and stress that the child has endured. It took the team 2 hours to complete the interview and a video taped record of the interviews was obtained for future court proceedings.

It is reported that the girl was able to confirm the identity of the suspect wanted in connection with the case as Khun Suraiyman aged 69, who is reportedly still working in the area off Walking Street renting out motorcycles.

Police are now applying to Pattaya Provincial Court to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect and an arrest is expected shortly.
