The top brass were called in after a top grass fingered a lady in East Pattaya who was alleged to be running an underground lottery and an illegal money lending business.
A raid was organised led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Region 2 Police Lieutenant Colonel Chitdacha. A search warrant was obtained from the Pattaya Provincial Court and the band of officers moved in. The target premises a 3-story building opened as a shop selling rice and cooking gas in Soi Nernplubwan in East Pattaya. The target loan shark - Khun Wassana aged 51 alleged to be the mastermind behind the multi million Baht businesses.
Khun Wassana the alleged Loan Shark was Beached and confessed to being behind the operations that would charge borrowers 20% interest per month on the debts they owed.
In the raid officers seized as evidence Bank books, lottery tickets and books with repayment schedules as well as 400,000 Baht that was just hanging around with no place to go. Khun Wassana had somewhere to go. She was taken to Nongprue police station as investigations continue.
