Pattaya Councillors Tour Pattaya Beach Road

Khun Annuphong led a team of Pattaya Council members on a fact finding mission and scenic tour of Pattaya Beach Road.

The beautification of the Beach promenade and the widening of the road from a two lane to a three lane highway is almost complete. It was a great idea to transform the road from a two lane traffic jam nightmare into a three lane traffic jam nightmare.

A lot of money was spent on paint to indicate where vehicles like Buses and Baht buses were allowed to stop and pickup and drop off their passengers.

Motorcycle taxi stands and motorcycle and car rental agencies were told to relocate to the sub sois and the roadsides cleared of food and souvenir sellers.

The City councillors were more than a little dismayed to find that the planned three lane traffic jam had turned back into a two lane traffic jam as entrepreneurial citizens have returned to operating their businesses along the left hand curbside.

Most of the old vendors have returned with new ones joining their ranks. They even found a mini bus parked in a no bus parking area with a table and chairs set out selling tickets for buses and bus tours.

The Councillors want the public to know that they take these offences seriously and no doubt their will be a major crack down announced in the near future so that the illegally located businesses can be removed and the three lane traffic jam system can be restored.
