Pattaya Phony Cops Strike Again in Jomtien

Another case this week of conmen posing as police officers. Khun Jaran aged 26 presented himself at Dongtan police sub-station to report that he had been abducted and robbed by a group of men who told him that they were police officers.

Khun Jaran had left his Toyota Vios vehicle at a car rental agency on Jomtien Road. He was later informed by the owner of the agency Khun Nee that the car had been rented out for the weekend. Later she contacted him to say that his car had been seized by the police and he should make his way immediately to the shop.

At the shop was a car with three men who claimed to be police officers. They told him that his car had been stopped and searched resulting in drugs being found in the car. He accompanied the phony policemen who drove him to Soi Tamnan in East Pattaya where they suggested that they could make this go away for a payment of 100,000 Baht.

He gave them 10,000 Baht, His ATM card which the phony cops used later to withdraw 7,000 Bah from his account and also the 3 mobile phones he had in his possession.

They then dumped him on Sukhumvit Road outside Pattaya School number 7 and drove off towards Sattahip. After taking the report the police are now searching for the con men cops by looking at CCTV images from the area as well as from the ATM machine that was used to withdraw the cash. They are also looking for the mysterious Miss Nee who may or may not be involved in the scam.
