Hand Grenades Abandoned in Jomtien Pattaya

Pattaya Police from Dongtan sub station on Jomtien Beach were notified that some explosive devices had been found on Jomtien Second Road. They rushed to the scene on Jomtien Second Road close to the entrance to the Jomtien Fishing Park. Hidden in bushes they found a cardboard box with six hand grenades. The road was cordoned off and Chonburi Bomb Disposal Officers were called in to deal with the find.

On arrival they accounted for 1 M26, 1 M67, 2 MKII and 1 M34 hand grenades. All were in new condition and were deemed viable weapons. The Bomb Disposal Officers removed the package and took the contents away to be disposed of in a safe location.

Since the imposition of Martial law in Thailand there has been many instances of explosives, weapons and ammunition being discarded by individuals and groups who fear the dire consequences for possession of these materials following threats from the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council that anyone found with weapons during the period of Martial Law would be dealt with to the fullest extent of the Law.
