The Tappraya 2310 Foundation received a report of an electrical fire outside the Namchai Electrical Store on Sukhumvit Road opposite Central Pattaya Road.
The foundation responded immediately as well as members of the media hoping for a fiery photo opportunity. A mass of wires, cables and telephone lines were well ablaze and there were serious concerns for passers by and for traffic driving along Sukhumvit Road. Foundation workers attempted to tackle the blaze with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. The fire brigade arrived 20 minutes later and firefighters using water hoses were soon able to put out the fire.
It is believed that an electrical short circuit was the cause of the blaze. Officials from the utilities involved will now have to sort out the mess, find out what caused the fire and install a new plethora of tangled cables to replace the old plethora of burnt out ones.
