Pattaya Police and a unit of the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to a Jomtien Condominium after they received reports of two bodies being found. At the scene The Park Lance Condo Complex on Soi Watboon they were directed to a 4th floor condo where two bodies had been discovered after staff entered the room when cleaners smelt a foul odour coming from the room.
Police were confronted with a horrible scene. The bodies were a 2 year old boy and his French father. It was a complicated crime scene and the police immediately called in assistance from senior duty officers from The Region 2 Police forensic investigations Unit. From the state of the bodies it is thought that they had been dead for about 5-7 days
It appears that the young child had been gruesomely murdered by his father. His head had been bashed in and was wrapped in a plastic bag. An attempt had been made to cut his throat and forensic tests showed that he had been injected with Nembutal which is a powerful anaesthetic that can be fatal if administered in a high dose. On a table in the kitchen area was a sharp bloodstained kitchen knife and bottles of the anaesthetic and hypodermic syringes.
The naked body of Frenchman Mr. Yonatan Kerner aged 28 was found in the bedroom. After failing to commit suicide by hanging himself with an electric cord in the bathroom he had finally managed the task by putting a plastic bag over his own head securing it with a rubber band and cutting his own throat.
The police had CCTV images from cameras on the fourth floor and have images of the father carrying his son to the condo, leaving a short time later and returning a a while later which is the last time he or his son were seen again.
The bodies were taken away for further forensic examination and the French Embassy in Bangkok have been notified of the death of one of it's citizens.
