Pattaya, Jomtien Bag Snatching Gang Caught

Police Colonel Supphathee Boonkhrong Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police Station and Acting Superintendent of Pattaya city police station along with other senior police officers held a press conference at Pattaya Police Station to announce the arrest of 4 Thai youths involved in a bag snatching incident in Jomtien.

Mr Oleksiii Vasylev, aged 27 a Russian national had reported to the police that he was walking along Soi Chayapreuk back to their room at Baan Suan Lalana with his wife when 4 youths riding motorcycles had pulled up alongside them and one of the pillion riders had lent over and dragged his wife's bag from her shoulder and then driven off at high speed.

The bag contained an iPhone 5 mobile along with 3,000 Baht and 1,500 Lao Kip. He gave the police a description of the robbers and a partial license plate with just the number 17 as he couldn't read Thai.

An alert went out over the police radio network and the thieves were soon spotted entering Soi Korpai 94. A search of the area and tip offs from some locals led them to a rented house where the 4 individuals were found cowering in a room and were soon placed under arrest and the bag and it's contents recovered.

Khun Chokchai aged 16, Khun Thossaporn Noksiri, aged 19, Khun Sahathas Ko-phae, aged 19 and Khun Phiriya Chimloy, aged 19 all face serious charges of aggravated robbery and a long vacation courtesy of The Thai Department of Corrections.
