Pattaya fire fighters and rescue units were called out to tackle a blaze at a restaurant in Soi Chaiyaphruek 1. At the scene a three storey shop house they found the ground floor well ablaze and smoke billowing out of the windows.
It took fire fighters about twenty minutes to douse the flames which seemed to have started in the kitchen area at the rear of the premises.
The bar restaurant called Mr. Ting Tong was seriously damaged causing 300,000 Baht of damage. There was no one injured and the fire had not spread to rented rooms on the Upper floors.
The owner of the bar Khun Urai aged 48 who has an American husband Mr. Ting Tong sorry Mr. Bob Logan said that the restaurant had been closed since December and it appears that the fire may have started in a refrigerator in the kitchen that despite the restaurant being closed was still plugged in and may have had a short circuit.
