Anti Aircraft Rocket Found in Bang Saray Sattahip

It is not an uncommon event in Thailand for citizens to report finding weapons, ammunition and even small bombs and hand grenades. However authorities were a little surprised to receive a report of what appeared to be an ant-aircraft round found on waste land in Bang Saray, Sattahip District.

Royal Thai Naval Ordinance experts from Sattahip Naval Base were called in and identified the shell as a 37- mm anti aircraft rocket, Olive green and was almost 2 feet long it was laying amongst a pile of dead leaves.

This was a live and viable round. Authorities removed the explosive device. It is not known where the rocket originated from as this was standard issue ammunition found at many military bases in Thailand. They said there was little to worry about as the rocket had been discarded in a remote and un-populated area. Fills one full of confidence in a quiet Holiday in Thailand by a tropical beach.
