Pattaya Police from Dongtan sub-station and a unit from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation to provide assistance were called to investigate the death of a foreigner found dead in a rental condo in Jomtien.

At the scene the Baan Suan Lalana Condominium in Jomtien they found the body of a Russian tourist Mr. Vladimir Shahmatov aged 29. Mr. Shahmatov wasa dressed in shorts and t-shirt and appeared to have been dead for about one day. There were no signs of injuries on the body and no signs in the room to indicate that a third party was involved in any way in the death. The only  clue they have is that the clenched fists of the deceased may indicated that he had suffered some cramps or spasms prior to his death.

A security guard told the police that a friend of the deceased had come to him to get assistance to open his friend's room. The friend had paid Mr. Shahmatov a visit but got no response but could see him through a window laying motionless on the bed in the bedroom.

After an investigation of the scene and the body the police speculated that the deceased died of natural causes due to some disease.

The body of Mr. Shahmatov was taken away for a full forensic post mortem to be carried out. Meanwhile as is the custom the Russian Embassy in Bangkok have been notified of the death of one of it's citizens.
