After receiving a report from a member of the public of a pedestrian being knocked down on Sukhumvit road volunteer workers from a local rescue foundation rushed to the scene.
At the scene opposite Makro they found a khun Phinyone aged 37 laying in a pool of blood and badly injured. He was transported immediately to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further emergency treatment.
His wife said that they were on their way to do some shopping at Makro. She took the overpass but her husband declined and tried to run across the road. He was struck by a fast moving white pick-up truck and thrown ten meters down the road. There is no word as yet on the pick-up or it's driver who was conspicuous by his absence at the accident scene.
