Jomtien Karaoke Bar Torched by Un-requited Lover

Pattaya police officers and volunteers from the rescue services who work tirelessly to keep locals and tourists safe in Pattaya deserve some time to take a break, let their hair down so when a call came in that a local Karaoke place was the hot venue for the night Pattaya Police officers from Dongtan sub-station, volunteer firefighters and units of Volunteer rescue Foundation Organizations jumped at the opportunity to mount their vehicles and roar into action.

Their destination was a Karaoke bar on Soi 17 just off Thepprasit Road. Unfortunately there was little to sing about. When they arrived the premises were well engulfed in flames. Volunteers from the Thappraya 2310 Foundation leaped into action tearing down walls and removing gas cylinders that threatened to explode. It took the fire fighters quite a while to douse the flames.

The police also leaped into action - asking questions of the crowd. Very quickly they ascertained that this may be a case of arson. and drew beads on a possible suspect.

The suspected arsonist, Khun Chart a shop owner aged 50 had apparently got the hots for the Karaoke owners sister who had turned down his unwanted romantic advances. He had visited the karaoke that evening. The sister was busy tending loving care on the other customers in the bar. Khun Chart was heart broken and hit the attention of his loving desires with his motorcycle helmet.

Khun Chart's burning passion for the sister fuelled no doubt by an excess of Thai liquor turned into a burning desire to torch the place. Witnesses reporting seeing Khun Chart near the Karaoke shortly before the fire was discovered.

Damage to the Karaoke was estimated to be over 200,000 Baht and the police are hot on the heels of Khun Chart. Elvis would be proud of him - certainly a case of Burning Burning Love.
