Norwegian Harms Himself in Jomtien

Pattaya Police from Dongtan sub-station on Jomtien Beach and a unit of the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to attend an incident at a restaurant a little ways down the beach

At the location a four story guest house they found a Norwegian gentleman who had definitely lost the plot. Mr. Per Stale Lund aged 37 was perched on a flat roof area on the second floor above the restaurant threatening to throw himself off the roof and on to an electrical transformer below. He was already covered in blood as he had cut himself several times in the neck and chest with a knife instead of the steak he was served up with.

What had caused him to go bonkers well would you believe an argument with his Thai girlfriend abot another Thai girlfriend - never heard of that before. Mr. Lund was clearly intoxicated and still wielding the knife that he had used on himself.

Officials tried in many languages to coax him down but Mr. Lund seemed to be travelling around a different planet. After about three hours he finally carried out his threats and jumped. Fortunately officials had already cut power to the transformer and his jump was only a few feet onto the tables and chairs of the restaurant. He received a few bruises and no doubt a hefty bill from the restaurant owner for the damage to the furniture and the steak that was by now cold and uneaten.

Mr. Lund was taken to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for observation. The police said that this incident followed on an incident last week when he had also lost the plot in a beer bar in Jomtien.
