Pattaya Flood Drainage Meeting

A high level meeting was held at Pattaya City Hall to discuss drainage and flood protection in Pattaya and it's environs. The meeting was chaired by Khun Wutthisak of Pattaya Council and attended by city administrators and representatives of private operators in Pattaya. The aim of the meeting was to discuss recent surveys of the area that has highlighted areas of vulnerability in the present drainage system.

This year has seen especially heavy rain events that has caused flooding to occur in many places around Pattaya and low lying areas such as South Pattaya have seen flash floods that have caused severe problems for businesses, residents and people passing through.

Proposals for improvements to the existing drains and sewers as well as increased pumping capacity were put forward and more meetings are planned to get to grips with the flooding problems in Pattaya that seem to be getting worse in recent years.
