Man Commits Suicide by Jumping From Bridge in Nongprue, East Pattaya

At 8pm on the 26th of December Nongprue Police Captain Jiasak was called to attend a fatal incident underneath a flyover of Highway 7 in Nongplalai district of Nongprue, East Pattaya.

He attended the scene along with a unit of the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation to provide assistance. At the scene he found the body of a Khun Kriangsak aged 41 who had apparently jumped from the overpass 5 metres above onto the road beneath only to be struck moments later by a tour bus and sustained fatal head injuries.

The incident was witnessed by a Khun Pagit aged 37, who saw the man preparing to jump and made his way to the overpass to try and stop him from jumping but he was too late.

Enquiries later revealed that Khun Kriangsak had paid a visit to Banglamung hospital complaining of insomnia and that he had not slept for four days. Medical staff at the hospital said that he appeared to be in a depressed state and they prescribed him a powerful sleep medication and discharged him at around 6pm. 

He had called relatives to say that he was on his way home but never got there choosing to take his life by jumping off the overpass. The police have ruled the death a suicide caused by stress or some mental illness.
