The peace and quiet that is the norm on Jomtien Beach was shattered this weekend with the roar of screaming racing engines drowning out the you want pineapple, you want massage, you want sunglasses from the frustrated army of beach vendors who gave up and moved en-masse to quieter pastures.
Hundreds of spectators watched from the beach as sleek speedboats rocketed around a series of buoys that's B.O.U.Y.S not B.O.Y.S.
After 15 laps around the B.O.U.Y.S the judges announced the results:
1st place boat number 39
2nd place boat number 88
3rd place boat number 43
Now when is the windsurfers competition due to start - much quieter methinks.
