Illegal Structures To Be Demolished From South Pattaya Canal

A meeting was held at Pattaya City Hall chaired by Khun Wirawat The Deputy Mayor of Pattaya to discuss plans to demolish structures encroaching on a South Pattaya canal.

At the meeting were representatives of the various agencies who would be involved in the enforcement of demolition orders that had had already been issued but were being ignored by a number of business owners who had driven piles into the canal and erected illegal structures above the canal.

In the recent floods which effected most of Pattaya in the rainy season these blocked drainage system exacerbated the already dire situation. As the owners of the structures were not co-operating Pattaya City had no choice but to go in and demolish the offending blockages themself. No doubt the owners will get their share of the bill at a later stage.
