The Amari Orchid Hotel Pattaya World Airlines Badminton Championship

The Amari Orchid Hotel Pattaya was the venue for the opening ceremony of the 14th World Airlines Badminton Championship 2013. Co-chairing the opening ceremony was Senior Pilot Khun Sitthikon of Minton Airways and the mayor of Pattaya Kun Itthipon.

Thai Airways as the national airline. Has been selected to host the event at the 14th World Airlines Badminton Championship 2013 held during 21-24 August at the CAT Sports Club.

One of the major aims of the competition is to foster relations between the staff of major airlines and companies involved in the airline industry around the world and in particular in the Asian, Southeast Asian region.

Competitors this year include: Nok Air, Air Asia, Orient Air, Thai Air, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, The Emirates Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Garuda Indonesia Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, BiMan Bangladesh Airlines, Airports of Thailand Public Co. Ltd. (Thailand) and the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd.

The competing badminton players and their entourages were welcomed to the City of Pattaya and it was hoped that they would be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches and the special ambiance of Pattaya during their stay.

The competition which will see entrants competing in both singles and doubles events is of course about playing badminton however there is much more involved in the bi-annual running of this sporting event. Encouraging staff to competes in sporting activities fosters healthy minds and healthy bodies which in turn leads to healthy companies and hopefully healthy profits.
