Russian Thief in Pattaya shopping Mall

On the 8 th of August Police Leutenant Supan of Pattaya Police was notified of a foreigner who had been caught trying to steal a charity donation box from a Pattaya shopping Mall.

He went to the scene Mike Shopping Mall which is the mall that stretches from beach road to second road near soi 10. There he found a Mr. Victor Petrov aged 20 a Russian national who had been detained by security personnel.

Police took statements from the security guard who witnessed the attempted theft and from the shop's human resource Miss Sumalai who had received a report from the security guard and called in the police.

Apparantly the vigilant security guard had noticed Mr. Petrov wandering seemingly aimlessly and hanging around by one of the exits. When he thought no one was looking the Russian took off his jacket and put it over a donation box and tried to make off with it. The security guard stopped him leaving with the donation box and called in management for assistance.

The donation box belonged to the Phrapon foundation a Thai children's charity. The box contained about 2,000 Baht in coins and notes destined to help poor and orphaned children in Thailand. The police took Mr. Petrov into custody and escorted him the short distance to Pattaya police station where he will be questioned and charged with theft.
