On the 1st of August Pattaya Police carried out one of their regular sweeps to clear the streets of Pattaya of unsavoury individuals behaving badly. There target as usual lady boys and real women selling sexual services to foreign tourists along the beach at night. The purpose crime prevention, to reduce the incidence of muggings and opportunistic thefts occurring all too frequently in this area.
The police said that although they arrested these same people on a regular basis there were some that seemed to have made a career out of these activities.
In this sweep more than 50 Ladyboys and real women were arrested and taken to the police station for checks and processing. They were given the full treatment by the police given a severe lecture on the ills of their evil ways, fined 200 Baht and sent on their way.
