Officials rushed to the scene and on arrival found a green Toyota Corolla stuck across the railway lines. The car was engulfed in flames with a ferocious engine bay fire fueled by LPG gas causing serious problems for the fire fighters.

Firemen used water and foam in an attempt to bring the blaze under control however it took about 30 minutes for the fire to be suppressed. Many local villagers had gathered to watch the events. and there was of course a major traffic jam.

The owner of the vehicle Mr Wong aged 49 explained that he had bought the vehicle and had LPG installed and had had no problems with it thus far. He had been driving home when smoke started to come from the bonnet and then it caught on fire. He escaped from the vehicle, informed some local residents who attempted to use a fire extinguisher but to no avail and a call was sent out to the authorities for help. Mr Wong was concerned that maybe the car could not be fixed and returned to it's original condition.
