Pattaya Restaurant Owners Raided By Fake Pattaya Police Officers

The owner of a Pattaya restaurant and his wife made their way to Pattaya Police Station to report a case of alleged extortion by a group of three men posing as police officers.

Khun Watcharaporn aged 29 and his wife said that the men had turned up at their residence which is behind the restaurant saying that they had information that the couple were running an illegal lottery from the premises and despite the fact that they didn't have a search warrant they proceeded to search the house.

They looked everywhere even making them open the safe. They asked questions about the staff in the restaurant insinuating that they knew that they were employing foreign workers.

Then one of the officers who went by the name of Police Senior Sergeant Major Yort said that they had enough evidence to make their lives difficulty, however for a bung of 50,000 Baht he could make the charges go away. The couple did not have that kind of money and gave the men 2,000 Baht

The couple also gave the police images that they had filmed of the raid that included the officers ID's and also showed their faces, The police took the report and said that they would investigate as posing as a police officer was a serious crime. They also expressed serious concerns that the men would return and would not be happy chappies that their money making scheme had been reported to the authorities.
