It was clean up time this week for Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches to clear the areas of the remnants of Krathongs, lanterns, fireworks and general discarded garbage left behind by the thousands of people who enjoyed Loy Krathong Festival by the beach last week.
Vendors made a killing selling the Loy Krathong celebrators with fancy Krathongs and also fireworks and fire lanterns despite the ban from the ruling Government military authorities who had put a moratorium on fun related but safety challenged items.
The firework and fire lantern felons were not fazed by any fear of arrest from the armed forces and were more interested in making a few Baht or two or three.
Fun was had by all be they farlang or locals and no doubt the kids frolicking in the surf to relieve the Krathongs of their monetary cargoes were well happy too.
