East Pattaya Pharmacy Busted for Selling Illegal Drugs

Undercover Pattaya Police Officers raided a pharmacy on Soi Nernplubwan in East Pattaya after receiving a tip off that the shop was supplying controlled substances to customers without a licence and without a prescription.

The owner of Sarisa pharmacy Khun Sarisa aged 44 was arrested during the raid after an agent had gone to the premises to make an undercover buy.

The police took a variety of medications as evidence including psychotropic drugs, sleeping pills, and sexual enhancement tablets including Viagra.

Khun Sarisa admitted to the selling of these drugs. She said that the pills were often sold to folks who worked nights and needed pills to help them sleep in the daytime. These sleeping tablets are sold for 12 Baht apiece but can then be sold on in the black market for 20 Baht each. Khun Sarisa was concerned that they could fall into the wrong hands and had noticed that ladyboys were frequent purchasers.

The police are concerned as there seems to be a surge in incidents where foreign tourists are drugged and robbed and are determined to stamp this out by increasing the surveillance and raids on pharmacies supplying these substances.
