German Drugged Robbed Markland Condo Pattaya

Around midday on the 24th of November Police Lieutenant Kwanchai of the Pattaya Police was called to a condominium on the 18th floor of Markland Codo on Soi 1 at the north end of Pattaya Beach Road after a German tourists claimed to have been drugged and robbed.

In the condo wa Mr. Joachim Gerd Lay aged 73 a German national and tow of his friends Mrs. Sylvia Duangjit aged 63 and her husband. When Mr. Lay woke up and realised he had been robbed he called his friends to provide assistance who in turn notified the police.

Mr. Lay was in a bit of a state with facial lacerations and blood streaming from his nose after he had apparently keeled over from the effects of the drugs he had consumed. The room was in disarray and appears to have been ransacked. The safe was open and Mr. Lay said that valuables were missing including 200 Euros, 50,000 Baht, a digital camera and his credit card.

Mr. Lay said that he had gone to dinner with friends in Naklua the previous evening and whilst walking home met two Thai ladies aged around 30 to 35. At 11.30 pm he called in at the coffee shop in the lobby of his condo before taking his two new lady friends to his condo. A bottle of wine was opened and they drank some wine before he passed out and woke up the next day.

Police took evidence at the scene, fingerprints and also took the wineglasses to be sent for forensic examination to see if they showed any traces of drugs. Meanwhile they hope that there will be CCTV images at the condo that will shed some light on these ladies of the night.
