Sriracha Police and a Unit of a rescue foundation were called to attend a fatal road accident on the Bangkok bound carriageway of Highway 7 in Tungsukla District.
At they scene they found a wrecked Honda Wave motorcycle and the body of a Miss Jarunee aged 28 from Chayaphum Province. She was a worker at a local factory and appeared to be on her way home when the accident occurred.
An eyewitness said that they had seen the motorcycle approach and it lost control and crashed after hitting a large pot hole in the road. As the rider went to the ground an 18 wheel lorry ran over the victim. The lorry failed to stop and continued towards Chonburi. The driver of the lorry is being sought for causing the death of the young lady.
The body of Miss Jarunee was in a terrible state and was taken to Leam Chabang Hospital for a full post mortem to be carried out before the body can be handed over to relatives for funeral rites to be carried out.
Local residents said that this is not the first fatality in this area. The terrible bad road surface was littered with pot holes. Dozens of accidents had occurred in recent months with many people injured and some unfortunately killed. They demanded that the local agency responsible for road repairs come and fix these lethal pot holes and actually hang around and wait for the repaired holes to dry out before allowing traffic to us the road after repairs.
