Folks in Soi Khao Talo 3 in East Pattaya are reporting that things are booming down their way. No we aren't talking about the economy we are talking about a large boom that brought residents out of their arms to see a spectacular fireworks display coming from a tangled web of electric cables, cable TV cables, Telephone Cables and whatever cables I haven't already mentioned.
They new better than trying to tackle the blaze themselves and called in the experts who used the requisite fire extinguishers and not water hoses.
Once out the experts examined the aftermath and surprisingly announced that it was probably all bought on by an electrical short circuit.
Show over the residents could return to their non air-conditioned homes with no TV and no Facebook whilst they await the other experts the electric, cable and Telephone company workers to patch in a new tangle of cables.

Sattahip Man Hangs Himself From Tamarind Tree
Sattahip Police and a unit from The Sawang Rojanatham Rescue Foundation were called out after the body of a man had been found hanging from a tree.
At the sene in a cassava field near Moo 6 of Soi Yenrudee in Sattahip District they found the body of Khun Somwong Yensabai, aged 54. It appears that Khun Somwong had fashioned a noose from a rope, used a paint can to stand on and then committed suicide by hanging from a large Tamarind tree.
A suicide note was found in his pocket that explained that he had come to the end of his tether as he had no money to pay for rent and food and he was unable to care for himself and look after his 4 year old nephew who had been placed in his care. He also blamed relatives who had promised to send him money to help out but had renaged on their promises.

Ghanaian teacher from Bangkok Drowns On Pattaya Beach
A Ghanaian teacher from Bangkok was eventually found drowned in Pattaya Bay. Mr. SD Farsit aged 33 had come to Pattaya with his wife for a couple of days holiday and they had parked themselves on the beach opposite Soi 6 for a bit of rest and relaxation.
His wife a Thai lady Kun Kannika aged 25 was sitting in a deck chair on the beach as Mr. Farsit went for a dip in the sea. She and others saw Mr. Farsit fall from the bouys that seperate the swimming area and he disappeared under the waves. Some people nearby dived in the area but could not find him.
She quickly reported his disappearance to the authorities. Divers from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called out to join in the search for Mr. Farsit. A large crowd of onlookers gathered on the beach. Then about 6 hours later someone on the beach spotted the body of Mr. Farsit who had washed up on the beach a little further down the beach.
Mr. Farsit was declared dead on the scene by medics. He appeared to have suffered bleeding from the mouth and nose. Khun Kannika was distraught and was helped by the rescue workers as the body of her husband was transported to Banglamung Hospital for a full post mortem to be carried out. The Ghanaian Consulate in Bangkok has been notified about the death of one it's citizens.

Turtles Released from Sattahip Turtle Conversation Centre
It was Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 82nd birthday on Sunday. And 983 sea turtles must have thought it was their birthday when they were released into the sea from a beach at SattahipTurtle Conservation Centre.
The occasion close to Royal The Thai Naval Base in Sattahip was attended by a host of dignitaries from the military, government officers, The Royal Thai police, media personalities and media persons along with a whole bunch of Thai kids.
The Commissioner of Royal Thai Fleet Admiral Phicharn Theeranet presided over the ceremony to honour a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and then in honour of The queen the congregation wended it's way to the beach where the turtles were dispatched into the waves andthe pristine marine environment of The Gulf of Thailand.
Children are so lucky nowadays to get close to nature and do good things to benefit the environment and protect endagered animals. I must admit that the closest I ever got to a turtle when I was a kid was from a can labled Cambells Soup.

Car, Motorcycle Collission South Pattaya Road
Pattaya Police were on scene to sort out the aftermath of a road accident on South Pattaya Road at the crossroads with Pattaya third road. The road was slippy due to a recent rain shower and there had been a collision between a Toyota Fortuner and a Honda Wave motorcycle. The Toyota had come out the winner and the Honda bike had come in a close second.
The loser was definitely the motorcycle rider Khun Ekasit aged 23 who had sustained multiple abrasions and was in a lot of pain from an ankle injury.
Medics from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation had started to give first aid when the cavalry arrived on scene - Khun Ekasit's mother. She called an ambulance and her son was soon whisked away to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.

Algerian Tourist Snatched for Snatching Bags on Walking Street Pattaya
Pattaya Tourist Police on Walking Street in South Pattaya received a report from a Japanese tourist Mr. Hidenabi Hobibe aged 25 that his bag had been stolen while his attention was somehow distracted inside Baccara A-go-go. The bag contained about 3,000 Baht in cash and his iPhone.
The tech savvy tourist cops were able to ascertain that the phone was still switched and were able to get a fix using GPS to a nearby apartment block.
They moved in and located the phone in the room of an Algerian gentleman. Mr. Larbi Kbelifa aged 44 seemed to have an urge to collect handbags and the room was awash with fake designer bags, wallets, purses, make up kits and the various other stuff that women hoard in their handbags.

Pattaya Police Go Bananas at The Windmill Club Pattaya
After receiving complaints from tourists Pattaya Police Officers conducted a second raid of the Windmill Club in Soi Diamond off Walking Street.
It was alleged that sexy shows were taking place at this den of iniquity with sexy naked girls on stage and other girls who were obviously parishoners of the popular St Nicholas Church.
Aparrantly the officers went bananas with what they saw and promptly arrested a bunch of them that's a bunch of girls not a bunch of bananas. They were loaded into a police pick-up along after being allowed to put on some clothes with Khun Suwit the Thai manager who already had his clothes on.
At the police station the girls were fined 500 Baht each, given a voucher to purchase essential garments to keep the chill out and Khun Suwit was processed for his participation in providing lewd shows.
While this was going down Mr. Dave Hamilton, age 55 a British national arrived at the police station. An altercation occured between Mr. Hamilton and members of the media with Mr. Hamilton allegedly taking a swing at them with a dangerous offence weapon - his motorcycle helmet.
This caused a stir in the media and was reported widely all over Thailand. Cambodian Construction Worker in Pattaya Arrested for Raping 5 Year Old Girl
Pattaya Police received a report from the Cambodian parent of a 5 year old girl that she had allegedly been sexually assaulted by another construction worker. As was the norm they she had left their daughter playing at a construction site where commercial buildings were being built next to The Hotel ISO on Pratamnak Road.
She had seen the girl on the third floor of the un-finished structure and also saw her walk off with a 17 year old Cambodian youth Mr. Putra She saw no problems with this - they were all Cambodians after all.
The next afternoon they were eating noodles and the girl was in a distressed state, shaking her head, refusing to eat and crying. It was then that she told her mother what had happened the previous day. Mum took a look and found the girl was badly swollen and decided to report the incident to the police.
The police immediately sent the girl for a medical examination where doctors confirmed that an assault had taken place.
They then went to speak to Mr. Putra he denied everything but police did not believe him and took him down to the police station where he subsequently confessed. Mr. Putra is in trouble with the Immigration Department as an illegal alien and of course much more serious charges of sexually assaulting a minor under the age of 15.

Fatality and Multiple Casualties on Route 7 Near Pattaya as Crane Falls on Vans
Sriracha Highway patrol police were first at the scene of an accident involving multiple casualties on Route 7 near Pattaya. Multiple units of The Sawang Pratheep Rescue Foundation were called on to provide assistance and transport the victims.
A large mobile crane had toppled over and hit two commuter mini-vans. The crane was embedded in the cab of one of the vans. Khun Santi aged 45 was the driver of the crushed van he had to be extracated and was declared dead at the scene due to a broken neck.
Five passengers were injured three of them of Japanese nationality. Some were seriously hurt and were transported immediately to Sriracha Hospital for emergency treatment.
Police interviewed the crane driver Khun Sompong. He explained that he operating the crane to move concrete sections on the construction of the Nong Kham-Laem Chabang Flyover. Pick-up Truck, Motorcycle, Power Pole Accident in East Pattaya
A coming together of a motorcycle and a ford pick-up truck in East Pattaya resulted in a bent pick-up a wrecked motorcycle, a power pole and a rather large hole in a fence.
At the scene outside The Royal Orchid Village on MabYaiLia 47 there were no serious injuries and it seems that the pole was the main winner in this confrontation.
Nongprue Municipality Workers, Nongprue Police Officers and a Unit of The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were all at the scene. As well as a mob of local residents and a larger mob of media representatives all doing what mobs do - gawp at the presented devastation and the trained professionals doing what they were trained to do.
Now it was the job of the police to question the participants to try to find out who was at fault. The pick-up driver, the motorcyclist or the power pole.

Young German Thai Youth in South Pattaya Road Accident
The son of a German national was involved in a road accident when he was driving with his father along South Pattaya Road.
The accident happened at a crossroads and involved the German's car and a motorcycle ridden by an un-identified Thai man. The motorcycle rider had sustained bruises to his body and a leg imjury. He was transported by volunteers from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
The police were soon on scene collecting evidence and taking witness statements. They also have footage from CCTV cameras in the area and are keen to find out who caused the accident.

Snake Nabbed in Naklua North Pattaya
Workers at The Thappraya 2310 Rescue Foundation were on a tea break when the call came in. A large snake had been spotted in Naklua and they were the experts on duty. They didn't re-coil to the call of duty gathered their snake catching equipment and slithered to the scene.
Khun Prakorn a 34 year old security guard at The Lec Vills hotel in Soi Naklua 18/2 was waiting for the reptilian rescue squad and took them to the location where they were confronted with a 4 meter long boa constrictor curled up in the parking lot. The security guard explained that as far as he knew the Boa was not a guest at the hotel and was therefore not allowed to park himself there.
The volunteer snake snatchers had come prepared and were armed with the latest hi-tech snake catching equipment. A hooped rope on a bamboo pole and a large empty fertiliser bag.
It was not long before they had the stupendous slithering snake safely ensconced in the fertiliser bag and to the relief of the security guard they were soon departing the premises with the temporary resident who will be released into a wild and lonely place well away from people and hotels.

Soi Photisan Pattaya Fight Victim
Pattaya Police and a Unit of The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to provide assistance after a brawl left a man injured and in a dazed state.
At the scene in Soi Photisan Pattaya they found a Khun Wanchai aged 35. He had sustained a head wound and bruises all over his body after being chased to the location by a pack of about 10 Thai teenagers.
A local fruit seller Khun Non aged 45 said that he had witnessed the vicious attack and gave police a description of the youths involved.
Khun Wanchai was given first aid at the scene and then transported to hospital for further emergency treatment. Meanwhile police are actively searching for the pack of vicious soi dogs sorry Thai youths.

American Cyclist Attacked With Knife in Central Pattaya
We all know that riding a motorcycle in Pattaya is not conduce to leading a long life. Just try taking the engine away and calling it a bicycle. A health promoting exercise to get those blood vessels pumping. Well it was not so healthy for an American tourist riding his bicycle in Central Pattaya when he had an altercation with a Thai motorcyclist and found that red stuff pumping outside his chest rather than inside is not so healthy.
Police were called to Soi Xcyte just off Second Road in Central Pattaya where they found that a Mr. Daniel O’Neill had already been transported to Banglamung Hospital. Some officers went immediately to the emergency room at the hospital while others remained on scene to try to find out what happened. They were able to get a brief statement from Mr. O'Niell as doctors worked to treat some serious slash wounds and stem the profuse bleeding.
From this interview and witness statements it seems that Mr. O'Niell was subjected to a frenzied knife attack by a motorcyclist after a minor road accident. The attacker was a Khun Prasit aged 29 works as a part-time masseur and a full-time butcher. Khun Prasit of course had left the scene and was soon tracked down and returned to Soi Xcyte to explain what had occurred.

South Pattaya Canal Dredging
A site meeting took place near the Camelot hotel in South Pattaya where members of King Arthur's Round table now known as officers of Pattaya City Council met with local hotel owners and residents to discuss the progress of canal dredging in the area.
The canal clearing operation is part of a larger plan to clear clean and upgrade the drainage system that in times of heavy precipitation can handle the heavy influx of water that flows down the hill from Pratumnack into the South Pattaya area. In recent years this area has been particularly plauged by heavy flooding.
A canal from near The Camelot Hotel stretches around 100 meters up to Pattaya third road and it is expected to take another three days to clear this section.

Sattahip Butchers in Fatal Fight
A sad case in Sattahip of two slaughterhouse workers taking their work home. Sattahip police and a unit of The Sawang Rojanatham Rescue Foundation were called to a rented house in Moo 6 of Sattahip district after reports of a fight and one alien worker being seriously injured.
At the scene they found the body of a Khun Noi a Cambodian who worked at a local pig slaughterhouse. He had been involved in a fight and sustained a deep stab wound that had entered his chest revealed his internal organs and penetrated his heart. He was rushed to hospital in Sattahip but doctors could not save him and he died from his wounds
The scene was littered with whisky bottles and eyewitness confirmed that he had been drinking heavily with a fellow slaughterhouse worker an argument ensued then a fight broke out and then the work tools came out and the argument turned from a slagging match to a knife fight.
The alleged murderer Khun Mor then fled the scene and is currently being hunted by the police.

Chonburi Man Hospitalized With Head Wound From Falling Ironwork
Chonburi Rescue Foundation workers were called upon to give assistance to a man who had sustained a significant head wound apparently from a piece of steel falling on his head.
At the scene in Moo 2 of Tambon NaPa in Amphur Muang Chonburi they found a Khun Jaroon aged 52 who was bleeding profusely from a 5-6 cm gash in his head. He was staggering around as if he was drunk which would be quite a normal reaction if you had just been struck in the head by a piece of steel.
He was transported to a local clinic at Wat Thong Khung but doctors there did not have the facilities to treat such a major head trauma and he was subsequently transferred to Chonburi Hospital.
Relatives of Khun Jaroon protestated that the injuries Khun Jaroon sustained were not as a result of an accident but were inflicted by police who were trying to control him when he got drunk.
At the scene in Moo 2 of Tambon NaPa in Amphur Muang Chonburi they found a Khun Jaroon aged 52 who was bleeding profusely from a 5-6 cm gash in his head. He was staggering around as if he was drunk which would be quite a normal reaction if you had just been struck in the head by a piece of steel.
He was transported to a local clinic at Wat Thong Khung but doctors there did not have the facilities to treat such a major head trauma and he was subsequently transferred to Chonburi Hospital.

North Pattaya Road Accident
Pattaya Police and a unit of The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to attend the scene of a road accident involving a car and a motorcycle.
At the scene at the mouth of Soi Sukhumvit 32, before the fourth traffic light, North Pattaya Road they found a wrecked Suzuki Crystal motorcycle and it's rider Khun Saaw aged 31 along with a Damaged Toyota Camry and it's driver Khun Bass aged 26.
Khun Saaw of course came off worse in the motorcycle car confrontation and was transported by rescue workers to hospital for immediate emergency treatment.
The police could then collect evidence and interview witness at the scene including the Toyota driver to get a better idea how this accident occured.

Sattahip Student Skirmish

Rescue workers from The Sawang Rojjana Thamma Satharn Rescue Foundation were in attendance to patch up wounds and ferry two of the more severely injured to The Queen Sirikit hospital in Sattahip for further emergency treatment.
The reason for the skirmish - students from the same school but not the same class had been arguing with each other because one group of students had accelerated past another group on their motorcycles which annoyed them.
18 boys were arrested - Oh and the boys toys were seized including a pen gun, a bullet, a knuckle, 5 egg bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices.
The police then invited the student's parents to acknowledge their sons actions and escort them back home for a family chat before recording the incident and becausethey were just teenagers releasing these boys without any further charges.

Pattaya Buddhist Amulet Collector Right Out of Luck
The collection of Buddhist Amulets in Thailand is big business. Most Thais have one or two slung round their necks or tucked away in drawers or adorning a Buddhist shrine at home. Thais believe overwhelmingly that these amulets bring good luck and that is why they adorn the dashboards of many vehicles in the knowledge that even though they can't drive for toffee Buddha will look out for them and their trusty steeds.
Some people go a little overboard in the hunt for good luck and have collections of hundreds if not thousands of these amulets with pictures of revered monks from far flung temples.
Khun Suwat a 57 year old Pattaya businessman was one of these keen collectors. However his luck ran out big time when the collection of Buddhist amulets he amassed from a chain of linked amulet dealers turned out to be fake.
He spent over a million Baht on the amulets from two dealers in Jomtien and Pattaya. He took them for appraisal in Bangkok and was gutted to find that his million Baht investment was worth a mere 50,000 Baht.
He made a report to Pattaya Police. He had been guaranteed that a full refund would be made if any of the amulets proved not to be genuine. The Police followed up on the holy dealers only to find that they had dome a holy runner, shut up shop and disappeared to another province in their quest for the holy mark.
