Holy smelly cow. Sometimes you realise that your job just stinks. volunteers from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were soon going to regret their volunteerism when they were called to help get a rather large 6 months old calf that had fallen into a giant crapper.
At the scene in Kow Mai Gaew in Pong District of North Pattaya. Yes I did say Pong District. They came across the sorry smelly cow stuck in a pile of smelly stuff at the bottom of a 3 meter deep septic tank.
They drew straws to see who would have the privilege to descend into the pit to secure a noose around the suffering soiled cow. It took about half an hour to bring the calf to the surface before they could breathe a sigh of relief in fact before they could breathe at all.

Young Man Shot in East Pattaya for Honking at a Buddhist Shrine
I was first bemused when folks passing Buddhist shrines would turn their heads and wai with their hands clasped in respect to the dead. Then I would become alarmed when I realised that they were taking their hands off the wheel and for a couple of seconds were not looking where they were going.
It's not so easy for motorcyclists to take their hands off the handlebars to wai so nowadays it seems customary for hem to honk their horn a few times - lot safer yes? well not always.
A young man in East Pattaya was riding his bike near the railway lines in East Pattaya. His girlfriend was riding her bike a little distance behind. He came across a Buddhist Shrine at the side of the road and honked his horn 3 times. What he didn't notice and didn't even think about was that there was a few alive youths near the shrine who thought he was honking them. They took umpty and set off to follow him.
After stopping to put some gas in his bike he set off again and came up to a motorcycle and car driving slowly. As he overtook them a guy in the car pulled a gun and fired off a few rounds. He realised he had been shot in the shoulder and pulled over. Police and rescue workers arrived and he was transported to hospital for further emergency treatment. Doctors found that he had actually been shot twice in the right shoulder and in the left arm. His injuries were not however life threatening so no need for a shrine to be built in his honour.

East Pattaya Construction Worker Injured By Landslide
Emergency workers and a unit of the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation rushed to give assistance at an East Pattaya construction site after reports came in of a mud slide and injured and trapped workers. At the scene at the site of Chockchai Condominium 2 off Soi Kao Noi in East Pattaya the situation was less severe than was first thought.
Workers had been digging a hole to make way for a projected artificial lake. The pond was to be 10 meters wide and 3 meters deep. Due to recent heavy rains and probably a lack of shoring one of the walls collapsed on to a worker standing below. Khun Nalit aged 45 and a team of workers were working inside the hole but he was closest to the side and was struck by falling debris. His mates managed to drag him out quickly from under the collapsed soil bank

Pattaya Lady Boys Caught on Beach Road Robbing an Australian Tourist
A 47 year old Australian tourist Mr. Warren was the latest to become a victim of the lady boy scum also known as the bisexual bandits who lurk in the shadows of the coconut trees at the coconut bar also known as Pattaya Beach Road.
Mr. Warren was strolling along The Beach road near Soi 12 when he was spotted by the thieving Thai blokes in skirts who moved in with their well tried and tested routine of mobbing the bloke groping and grabbing whatever they can get hold of that is sellable. In this case it was the 18kt gold chain he was wearing that tickled their fancy.
Mr. Warren was lucky. Pattaya police undercover agents dressed to blend in were already observing the antics of this bunch of bisexual bandits. They moved in Khun Thanawut aged 36 and Khun Mongkolchai aged 33 were arrested taken to Pattaya Police Station and charged on two counts - one aggravated theft and two being butt ugly.
The bisexual bandits confessed to this crime and said that farangs appearing drunk and strolling along Beach Road were easy marks and they were rich so what was the problem.
Mr. Warren got his necklace back and hopefully learnt his lesson.

Despite the promised crackdown on crime in the City with Thai army and Thai Navy personnel going out on increased patrols with Pattaya Police officers crimes against tourists seem to be continuing unabated.
A female Chinese tourist Miss Min Shu aged 21 year old told police that she was walking with some friends near the Mum Aroy junction on Pattaya third road in North Pattaya when a man on a grey motorcycle pulled alongside her and snatched her bag which contained 20,000 baht in cash, 1,000 Yuan in cash along with some personal documents before riding away from the scene at high speed.
The police immediately broadcast a description of the highway robber on the police radio network but this failed to give any results.
All the police could do was take down the young lady's story and issue a crime report that she can use to claim on her insurance if she has it.

Final Days For Pattaya Motorcycle Taxi Registration
How many motorcycle taxi drivers are there in Pattaya? 1,000, 2,000 - those were my guesses - man was I wrong.
Pattaya City Hall in a bid to regulate the motorcycle taxi business have brout in regulations that all Pattaya Motorcycle Taxi Drivers must register themselves and their bikes. On the last day for registration there was a massive queue with motorcycle taxi drivers leaving it till the last minute as most Thais do on any occasion where there is a time limit.
With staff at their wits end they battled on to collect the registrations and of course collect the registration fees.
So far they have collected a total of 7,052 registrations. That breaks down to 465 registrations for Pattaya, 5,902 registrations for Banglamung District and 729 registrations for Nongprue District known as the Darkside. With 592 queued up to register and goodness only knows how many not sober enough to make it to City Hall yet - that's an awful lot of motorcycle taxis.

Soi Nernplubwan East Pattaya War Zone
A team of reporters from Thipmanee cable TV packed their equipment donned their flack jackets and set off to cover a war zone. No they were not flying off to Iraq or Afghanistan they were covering a scene of devastation that resembled any war zone in many parts of the world. Their destination was Soi Nernblubwan in East Pattaya.
Contractors have been working now for 100 days to lay drains and the busy road is a mess. The road which stretches from Sukhumvit Road near the Numchai Store to Wat Samakit some 6 kilometres is no longer a road it is a 6 kilometre construction site with construction and excavation equipment blocking traffic flow along with a road surface that more resembles the Somme than the street.
Constractors have dug up the left side of the road and laid drains and manhole covers. Dug up the right side of the road and now seem to have started digging up the centre of the road to match the other parts of the road.
The potholes are destroying cars and motorcycles, destroying business along the route and destroying the nerves of local residents who live on the route or in many of the local communities off of Nernplubwan. and just about destroyed my spine as I made the mistake of venturing down Nernplubwan in a Baht Bus this morning to visit the pharmacy.
Officials say that there is an easy way to avoid the massive traffic jams - don't drive on Soi Nernplubwan Especially in the morning Monday to Friday 07.00 - 09.00 am and evening at 15.30 - 19.00

Burmese Workers in Thailand Fight at Chonburi Construction Camp
Many migrant workers have returned back to their homes in Cambodia and Burma after rumours that their presence was no longer welcome in Thailand and they feared for their safety. But not all have left - many work on at low paid menial jobs in factories and one construction sites.
Phanthong police in Chonburi got wind of a fight at a construction camp at Moo 5 in Tambon Nong Kha. There were reported to be over 50 Burmese workers seriously slugging it out inside the camp. The police responded in force with Rescue foundation vehicles on standby outside the camp to deal with any casualties of the fracas. There were about 100 workers housed in the camp and about 34 had joined in with a fine display of Muay Thai or should it be Muay Burma.
The police quickly stopped the fight and isolated the ringleaders. The cause of the altercation - traffic jams. Because of delays due to workers arriving late for work the construction company had asked that workers arrive on site at 6.30 am instead of 7 am. Some workers agreed to this some did not as they valued their beauty sleep too much and the ringleaders goaded their fellow workers into fisticuffs to settle the matter.
The police negotiated a peace treaty and the antagonists agreed to dissagree and dispersed nursing a few bruises to get in an early night as it was to be an early start at work tomorrow.

Bangsean Wannabe Boy Racers Thwarted
Police officers from Sean Suk police station who are responsible for keeping the peace in the resort town of Bangsean about 50 kilometres north of Pattaya were made aware that the peace of Bangsean was about to be broken by a bunch of boys with their toys. Beah Road at Bangsean had been designated as the venue for the "Amazing Race at the Beach Road"

Grandmother Accidental Death in Na Jomtien
Na Jomtien Police officers and a Unit of The Sawang Rojanatham Rescue Foundation responded to an an apartment in a Government Housing Block in Na Jomtien after receiving reports of an accidental death.
At the scene they found the body of the apartment owner Khun Insuwan. The 80 year old grandmother appeared to have slipped and fallen in the bathroom whilst taking a shower. She had been dead for about 2-3 hours and nothing at the scene indicated anything but an accidental death.
Khun Jirawan the 28 year old daughter of the deceased said that her mother lived with her husband at the apartment. That morning he had gone out to do some shopping and when they returned they found the dreadful sight.
The body of Khun Insuwan was taken to a hospital for a post mortem to be carried out before the body can be released back to the family for funeral rites to be carried out.

Ice Cream Motorcycle Sidecar Wreck on Sukhumvit Road Pattaya
A unit of the Tappraya 2310 Foundation were the first on the scene of a road accident on The Sukhumvit Road near to soi Khao Talo involving a car and a motorcycle sidecar combo.
The Honda Wave & sidecar which was kited out to sell ice cream was badly damaged and after the accident ended up perched in the central reserve. The man who was riding the motorcycle was laying unconscious and his female passenger had injuries to her arm and multiple abrasions on her body.
About 50 meters away was the parked Toyota Vios that had been involved in the crash along with it's driver Khun Joe aged 30. He said that he had been driving from Sattahip to Pattaya when the motorcycle sidecar pulled out in front of him and although he braked hard he couldn't avoid a collision.

Wheel meet again - that is the hope for a Pattaya cafe owner who had the ignominity of finding that his Honda Civic parked near his cafe was now a wheel less wonder after thieves jacked it nicked all four wheels and left the car high and dry perched on wooden blocks.
Pattaya Police were notified of the incident and the boys in brown made their way to The Cafe Zeus on Soi Kor Pai.
At the scene the police found Khun Santisuk Homsaeng the 26 year old the manager of the Cafe. He told them that the vehicle was owned by the owner of the cafe and was usually parked out front but today their was no space so it was parked nearby but not in eyesight of the cafe. Big mistake - in fact a 20,000 Baht mistake - that was the price that had recently been forked out to put 4 new wheels on the car just recently.
So with pictures taken and a police report in hand an insurance claim is in the offing. As for the owner - he wasn't available for comment - maybe he was stuck sat on a Baht bus trying to get into work.

Banglamung Community Visits
Khun Wanchai from Banglamung District along with a posse of senior officers went shopping this week to stock up on gift baskets of fruit, food and provisions. These were not for themselves and not to be given as gifts at some fance district party - these were on hand as they made another of their regular visits to the less well off and not so well members of the local community.
They visited the homes of several elderly women in the Nernplubwan area of East Pattaya where they had a chin wag with the ladies and presented cash donations along with their gift baskets and household provisions which were gratefully received.

Pattaya Motorcycle Taxi Riders Must Register With Banglamung District
Hell life used to be so easy for the Pattaya Motorcycle Taxi Drivers. The hardest part was the long ride from Nakhon Nowhere somewhere in Isaan with the soon to be go-go dancer girlfriend perched on the back.
Of course you needed a motorcycle but that could always be borrowed from someone who didn't know they were lending it out. After all the girlfriend would always be able to find a gullible farang to provide a new one after a few weeks of hard toil.
Now the Sherrif of Banglamung District Khun Sakchai Teangmo is determined to sort out this gang of beer chang chugging chimps. All motorcycle taxi drivers have been given a difficult task - they have been given an ultimatum - they must fill in numerous forms to register themselves and their two wheeled limos with the authorities or face the long ride back home. I say difficult because few can speak Thai even fewer can read and write.

Toyota Fortuner Crashes into Two Parked Cars in South Pattaya

Outside The Big Boy Furniture Store on South Pattaya Road they found a Toyota Fortuner that appeared to have crashed on it's own into two parked vehicles a Jeep and an Isuzu pick-up. The Toyota had major damage to the front end and was thought to have been going at a fair rate of knots when it met with the unmovable parked cars.
There was no sign of the driver of the fortuner who had obviously left the scene at an equal rate of knots maybe to sober up after his ordeal.
The problem for the rescue workers was a gas leak that was spewing the contents of the LPG fuel tank of the fortuner around the accident scene. Firefighters doused the area with their water hoses to help dissipate the leaking gas until it was clear for the workers to move in and remove the damaged vehicles from the scene.

Firefighters doused the area with their water hoses to help dissipate the leaking gas until it was clear for the workers to move in and remove the damaged vehicles from the scene.
German Found Dead in Pattaya Apartment
Pattaya Police and a unit of The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to provide assistance after the body of a foreigner had been found in an apartment in Soi Wat Thamsamakee.
At the scene in a room on the second floor they found the body of James Snote aged 52 a German national. Mr. Snote was slumped on a couch and appeared to have bean dead for about two days. Neighbours of the deceased said that Mr. Snote lived alone and they hadn't seen him for a couple of days.
The body was transported to hospital for a full forensic post mortem to be carried out that should explain the sudden death of this young man. The German Embassy in Bangkok has been notified of the death of one of it's nationals.

HFMD Screening in Pattaya Schools
Pattaya Public Health Disease Control Officials have been touring local schools to test students for HFMD. All schools and kindergartens in Pattaya are being targeted.
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) is is a contagious viral illness most commonly caused by a virus called coxsackievirus A16. Children under age 10 are most often affected. It is spread from person to person by direct contact with the nasal discharge, saliva, faeces and fluid from the rash of an infected person.
There have been a number of cases of HFMD in the past few months and health officials are keen to keep the outbreak in check by identifying infected individuals and promoting knowledge about public and personal hygiene practices that will help to prevent passing on the virus from one person to another.

Crystal Hotel Pattaya Blood Donor Session
It's the Dracula season again in Pattaya. Nah not that exciting just the latest in this years blood donation sessions. This weel it was the turn of The Crystal Hotel Pattaya to play host to a contingent from the Thai Red Cross National Blood Donor Center.
Khun Wiroj and Khun Manvipa Directors of the Crystal Palace were the first to roll up their sleeves and donate a quantity of the life giving fluid. 72 staff kindly donated some bodily fluids that will be used to replenish blood bank stocks in local hospitals for use in scheduled surgical procedures as well as for emergency procedures for accident victims.
Staff from The Thai Red Cross stressed that only fit individuals should take part in the donor sessions. Donors must be over 45 kilos in weight, health with no signs or recent history of disease and no history of risky sexual behaviour. Women who are experiencing their period or have given birth or had a miscarriage in the last six moths are also ineligible to take part.

Sattahip Schoolboys Attempted Rape Meeting With Parents
Sattahip Police Captain Aekachai held a meeting with the parents of 8 school boys who allegedly attempted to gang rape one of their classmates. The girl managed to escape her tormentors by biting two of them and screaming for help. A teacher heard her screams and managed to intervene and save the girl from any further ordeals.
The meeting in the presence of social workers from The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security was to decide how to proceed with the allegations of the youngsters indulging in indecent acts against another minor.
It was decided that any prosecutions will be handed over to the central juvenile and family court in order for the boys to be prosecuted.
